A growing boutique Accounting Firm on the Nassau/Suffolk border is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/Office Manager. The position will require you to handle the accounting functions during the busy season and throughout the year
This position requires you to be in the office full-time in Woodbury, NY
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and balance general ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; and resolving discrepancies.
- Provide financial status information by preparing special reports; and completing special projects.
- Correct errors by posting adjusting journal entries.
- Prepare financial statements and reports.
- Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures; and complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
- Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
- Reconcile bank statements by comparing statements with the general ledger.
- Maintain financial security by following internal controls.
- Prepare payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; and reconciling accounts.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Strong knowledge of QuickBooks and other accounting software.
- Excellent 10-key typing skills for data entry accuracy.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles including double-entry bookkeeping, debits, credits, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Experience in public accounting is a plus.
- Familiarity with Xero or other similar accounting platforms is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
