JOB TITLE: Accounts Payable Specialist

JOB SUMMARY: Assure proper and accurate processing of Accounts Payable.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review and Verify invoices for both Portland and Lebanon, KY facilities. Prepare for payment

Communicate any payable problems that may arise to Stockroom, Purchasing, vendors, and/or Accounting Supervisor.

Track and process expense reports & purchase card transactions

Prepare and process check runs including electronic transfers and payments as well as paper checks

Maintain Accounts payable unvouchered report on a weekly basis, reconcile as needed.

Reconcile AP transactions as needed and prepare analysis of accounts upon request. Maintain various spreadsheets for tracking purposes (i.e. utilities, sales and use tax, etc)

Work closely with the purchasing department, and vendors to research and resolve any invoice discrepancies or issues

Maintain all vendor files (paper and electronic), maintain AP email inbox including responding to inquiries.

Produce Monthly reports and assist with month end closing procedures

Provide supporting documentation during audits, maintain accurate historical files

Perform general office duties as required (retrieving and sorting mail, filing, office organization projects, etc.)

Responsible for implementing and driving process improvement initiatives in purchasing and receiving functions.

Comply with Portland Forge ethics and compliance policies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of accounts payable and general accounting procedures is a must. Proficient in data entry, and problem solving. One to three years experience in a business environment such as clerical or bookkeeping. Experience in manufacturing accounts payable position is preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills as well as prioritization a must.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalency certificate with specialized post high school training necessary. A.S. degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or similar discipline desirable.
