Job Description:

Web Solutions Developer (JavaScript Specialist)

Remote | Full-Time

About the Company

Item, Inc. is the go-to supplier for printer parts and supplies, and we’re making big moves in the digital space. Our Corporate Technology (CT) team operates like an in-house digital agency, handling everything from web development and e-commerce to digital marketing and custom apps. We’re looking for a front-end wizard to help us level up our game, with a strong focus on JavaScript, iPaaS, and API integration.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be a key contributor in helping the team achieve its goals, focusing on the following:

  1. iPaaS Integration and API Work: Work on troubleshooting, optimizing, and maintaining integrations with tools like Celigo, ensuring smooth communication between BigCommerce, our ERP, and other systems.
  2. API Integration Competency: Work with APIs to enhance functionality across our platforms, ensuring seamless data flow between front-end and back-end systems. You’ll need to understand how to consume APIs, troubleshoot issues, and optimize integrations.
  3. JavaScript Development: Build, troubleshoot, and optimize custom JavaScript for dynamic UI components and other front-end functionality.
  4. Vue.js Development (Nice-to-Have): Assist with integrating Vue into our Laravel stack or utilize vanilla JS to create scalable solutions.
  5. Fill in the Gaps: Bring your expertise to areas where the team needs the most help, whether that’s solving tough technical challenges or creating polished front-end components. Support where it’s needed and take the lead where your skills are strongest.
  6. Front-End Excellence: Create and maintain responsive, polished UI components, turning designs into functional and visually stunning web pages.
  7. Custom App Support: Collaborate on building, tweaking, or maintaining front-end components for Laravel-based applications to support broader team initiatives.

What You Bring to the Table

Required Skills:

  1. Strong JavaScript chops (ES6+, async workflows, DOM manipulation).
  2. Ability to build dynamic UI components and solve tricky front-end challenges.
  3. Experience integrating APIs and working with iPaaS tools (e.g., Celigo or similar).
  4. Comfortable with HTMLCSS/SCSS, and responsive design.
  5. Creative problem-solving mindset: You thrive on tackling unique challenges, thinking outside the box, and finding solutions when no pre-written process exists.
  6. Commitment to Learning: You’re passionate about staying up-to-date with new technologies, sharpening your skills, and implementing what you learn to improve workflows and solutions.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills: You should be able to clearly articulate ideas, collaborate effectively in English, and communicate audibly in a professional and accessible way.
  8. Full-task ownership: You’re comfortable seeing projects through from start to finish, handling all aspects without relying on a big agency-style handoff.
  9. A portfolio or proven track record of production-level work.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience with Vue.js or other modern frameworks.
  2. Familiarity with Laravel Blade views or other PHP frameworks.
  3. Exposure to e-commerce platforms (BigCommerce a bonus).

What’s in It for You?

  1. Freedom to Innovate: We’re a small team, so your contributions have an outsized impact.
  2. Diverse Work: From coding to collaborating on UI and solving integration challenges, there’s always something fresh.
  3. Growth Potential: Whether you’re looking to level up in JS or explore new tech, we support ongoing learning.
  4. Remote-First Culture: Work where you’re most productive.
  5. Competitive Salary + Benefits:
  6. For US-based employees, this is a full-time, W2 position with solid pay, PTO, holiday pay, and insurance options.
  7. For international candidates, the role will be contracted (1099 equivalent).
  8. Consistent Schedule: Work Monday through Friday, following a schedule aligned with the Eastern US Time Zone to ensure team collaboration.

Application Requirements

To apply, please include the following:

  1. cover letter detailing your interest in the role and how your skills align with the position. We value thoughtful and clear communication, so take this opportunity to show us what makes you a great fit. If a cover letter is not included, you will not be considered.
  2. GitHub repository (or similar platform, such as Bitbucket or GitLab) showcasing your coding work. This is required to evaluate your technical skills.
  3. Any other relevant profiles (e.g., LinkedIn, portfolio) that demonstrate your professional experience and creativity. While not required, these are helpful in understanding your background.

Compensation

$60,000–$80,000 annually, depending on experience.
