SALARY: $46,817 - $81,930

 

The Challenge

We're looking for an advanced surveying engineering specialist to join our DDC team.

 

In this role, you will:

  1. Supervise field surveys and mapping in our DDC office.
  2. Perform surveying, data collection, and mapping for division-managed projects of varying scope and size.
  3. Perform data management, integrate data into design files, property reconnaissance, and field ties, and compute property information to determine R/W impacts.
  4. Perform route location surveys.
  5. Design horizontal and vertical alignments, construction surveys, and development and analysis of 3D surface models.

 

What You Bring

  1. Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
  2. Customer service experience solving problems involving explaining complicated engineering concepts to customer groups.
  3. Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
  4. Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
  5. Computer experience, including Microsoft Office, drafting software, MicroStation, GeoPak, and a familiarity with corridor modeling.
  6. Ability to respond to the public, local government agencies, Raleigh-based staff, and private engineering firms regarding the status and design aspects of highway projects in the Division.
  7. Working knowledge of field surveying procedures.
  8. Proficiency with robotic instruments, data collection, and GPS.
  9. Ability to budget time and coordinate schedules with others.
  10. Agility to transverse steep and uneven terrain.

   

Education & Experience

  1. Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related discipline, and
  2. 6+ years progressive technician experience; or
      
  1. High School/GED Diploma, and
  2. 8+ years progressive technician experience; or
      
  1. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
