The Supervisor Powerplan t Component Field Services invests in the future of Southwest’s People by overseeing engine maintenance for powerplant, landing gears, and component maintenance to ensure compliance and quality are in accordance with Southwest procedures and policies. This role is also a subject matter expert and will serve as the second point of contact if the Engineering Team can’t be contacted. The Supervisor Powerplant Component Field Services is a team player who’s also comfortable working independently and can effectively communicate written, verbally, and visually through reports and presentations.

Job Summary
Responsible for oversight of Engine Maintenance providers for Powerplant, Auxiliary Power Unit, landing gear and component maintenance to ensure compliance and quality is in accordance with Southwest procedures and policies. Collaborates with Southwest Airlines Engineering and other Technical Operations Teams on development and implementation of process audits, improvements and policy revisions. Evaluates vendor performance.
Responsibilities
Provides oversight of outsourced engine, Auxiliary Power Unit, landing gears, and components during maintenance performed at designated Southwest Providers
Reviews component condition, coordinate with SWA Engineering to recommend specific work scopes in accordance with SWA Technical Operations policies, programs and procedures
Reviews and documents removed hardware and associated conditions to SWA Engineering that may aid or affect SWA Engineering specification changes
Ensures work performed at providers is in accordance with Southwest procedures and policies
Performs reporting duties associated with shop Quality performance, and other metrics identified by Leadership
Ensures maintenance data from MX Providers is accurate and compliant to CFRs, and SWA / MX Provider policies, programs and procedures
Performs timely in-process auditing to ensure Maintenance performed at MX Providers is compliant to SWA policies, programs and procedures
Interfaces with SWA Engineering and other Tech Ops Groups, to include SWA vendors, and manufacturers, on technical issues
Provides shop data that may aid with the development of Engineering work specification and contracts
Monitors and analyzes shop trends or reliability that may affect Engineering work specifications and contracts
Serves as Field Services Liaison on projects with Southwest Airlines Planning departments (e.g. Powerplant Planning, Aircraft Maintenance Planning) on issues related to shop loading at Maintenance Providers
Must comply with directives set forth by Manager of Powerplant Field Services

Preferred: Advanced Degree - Masters degree
Experience
Required: 5 Years - Experience with fixed-wing aircraft in maintenance, engineering or quality assurance function
Preferred: 3 Years - Aircraft fleet retirement and lease return requirements
Preferred: 3 Years - Heavy maintenance engine shop
Licensing/Certification
Preferred: A&P license
Preferred: Six Sigma yellow belt certification or higher
Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications

Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Fully functioning broad knowledge in :
Fixed-wing aircraft in maintenance, engineering and/or quality assurance Indirectly leading employees or teams
Preferred: 3 Years - Heavy maintenance engine shop
Indirectly leading employees or teams
Licensing/Certification
Must be able to obtain a SIDA (Secured Identification Display Area) badge and meet all local airport requirements
Preferred: Airframe and Powerplant or Aviation Maintenance Technician License or Bachelor's degree in Engineering in lieu of license
Preferred: Six Sigma yellow belt certification or higher
Physical Abilities

Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $97,750 per year to $108,600 per year* depending on qualifications and experience.
