Job Description:

Summary

The position is to provide leadership in the areas of operation, maintenance, and construction of systems and infrastructure while assuring system reliability, public and employee safety, cost effectiveness, and proper asset management.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
 

  • Administers the Safety Program for the area of responsibility.
  • Integrates and promotes the human performance concepts.
  • Performs regular job site observations.
  • Helps develop and monitor the training of department personnel.
  • Directs daily functions through Supervisors in the areas of field specific maintenance, construction, and emergency work
  • Coordinates utilization of company management systems for maintenance areas within the area of responsibility.
  • Reviews the maintenance, construction, and schedules for the area and assures coordination with other departments, districts, customers, and other areas as required.
  • Administers clerical and physical union agreement.
  • Assists in the development of the annual Operating and Maintenance budget.
  • Coordinates with other departments in identifying Capitol replacement of equipment in their operating area.
  • Approves all time sheets, vacation schedules, and expense accounts within the area of responsibility.
  • Communicates system changes with employees in their area.
  • Reviews reports on abnormal system conditions, analyzes the problem, and initiates corrective measures.
  • Coordinates standby responsibilities for the area.
  • Engaged in all emergencies pertaining to major equipment and system issues.
  • Works with appropriate groups for restoration of service.
  • Promotes and utilizes company associated equipment and technology.
  • Participates in the interviews of prospective employees and recommends hiring as well as discharging.
  • Periodically assumes duties of the Regional Manager.
  • Participates on committees and attends seminars as required.
  • Participates in all storm and or emergency activity across the territory as needed.
     

Daily LOA Responsibilities
 

  • Responsible for accurate compliance reporting and execution: Gas Leaks, Valve Maintenance, & Pipeline Audit Findings.
  • Act as the Lead for Gas Ops for the EH&S LOA audits within the respective LOA.
  • Accountable for all Customer related issues; timely addressed, set specific goals for completion and follow up.
  • Participate in all RCA’s relative to the respective LOA. Support the Supervisor with all aspects related to the RCA.
  • Responsible for ensuring all LMS items are up to date and scheduled pro-actively.
     

Required Qualifications For Position
 

  • Knowledge acquired through Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related field experience
  • Completed and successfully passed all formal training classes pertaining to the position
  • General knowledge of electric and gas operations systems and equipment
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop others.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, prints, records, standards, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to use a PC and associated software.
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills, ability to interact with customers and employees.
  • Knowledge of NIPSCO budgeting system
  • Knowledge of NIPSCO MAPPS System
  • Knowledge of Bargaining Unit Agreements
  • Skilled in the Work Management tools and MDT operations
  • Performed the duties of a Field Operations Supervisor
     

Preferred Additional Qualifications For Position
 

  • Proficient in the construction and maintenance practices within the electric and or gas operation
  • Ability to manage O&M and Capital Budgets
  • Knowledge of NIPSCO software technologies.
  • Knowledge of Electric System Emergency and Storm Restoration plans
