What to Expect

Every day, Tesla Engineers around the world use a variety of mission critical systems to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.

The Design Technology Operations team builds the systems that power Tesla’s design infrastructure.

Due to the breadth of technology used by Tesla, the members of DT Ops team are technical generalists across the domains of performance engineering, test engineering, release engineering, systems engineering, security engineering, software engineering, and knowing how to quit vim. We develop automation in Go, but our codebase is comprised of Java, CS, JS / TS, Python, .NET, etc.

This position can be based in Palo Alto, CA, San Diego, CA or Austin, TX.


What You'll Do

  1. Build release processes for applications ranging from small microservices to huge monoliths spanning large clusters
  2. Manage Kubernetes infrastructure across 3 continents
  3. Measure and maintain site performance using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Catchpoint and Splunk
  4. Participate in an on-call rotation, facilitating production and security incidents as Incident Commander, iteratively improving the reliability and performance of our stack


What You'll Bring

  1. Deep experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, able to drive root cause analysis of complicated system failures from database to browser
  2. Comprehensive experience with containerization technology is required
  3. Strong programming skills in, or a willingness to learn, Golang
  4. Familiarity with basic Database administration is required (performing schema migrations, and understanding planner output)
  5. Deep experience as a DevOps Engineer to automate all the test / release / deploy things.
  6. Oracle Database experience is helpful but not required
  7. Experience with 3DExperience is helpful but is not expected
  8. Outstanding experience with Scientific computing or LIMS is helpful but not required

Expected Compensation

$140,000 - $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits


Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
