What you'll do

  • Craft innovative and compelling content strategies and tactics to reach diverse audiences across multiple channels
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, understand our competitors and continuously evolve our approach to content
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to help bring their communications strategy to life and identify compelling stories from around the airline in creative and engaging ways that resonate with our audiences
  • Partner with stakeholders to collaboratively elevate our narrative and improve reach
  • Amplify content across channels as part of an extensive editorial calendar supporting the company’s communication and narrative goals
  • Manage various content streams from start to finish across various channels, ensuring they reach the right audience at the right time
  • Use metrics to make recommendations and decisions regarding communications strategies and plans
  • Ensure consistency in tone of voice and style for copy across all content and channels while keeping the American Airlines Style Guide current
  • Edit copy with a keen eye for detail and alignment of messaging, often on tight deadlines

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or Journalism or related experience
  • 4 years experience as a reporter or writer


Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Experience and mastery of AP style writing with an eye for detail is required.
  • Outstanding and creative storyteller
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized
  • Knowledge of SEO, social media management and content distribution is beneficial.

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Ability to create and guide peers on various types of copy from sharp headlines, short form briefs and social copy as well as delving into complex business topics and explaining them in an understandable and engaging way
  • Ability to review copy for details and accuracy while adhering to deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, constantly changing, multi-faceted environment
  • Ability to work both independently and on a team when needed for larger communications initiatives and in crisis situations
  • Ability to exercise sound business judgment and handle confidential information with sensitivity
  • Embraces/Adopts American's Leadership Model and Leadership Attributes
