About the Role

The Social Media Manager is a creative professional responsible for helping lead the planning, coordination, and execution of content across all social media channels for Indivisible Project. This role supports daily content creation and engagement on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon.

The manager will also oversee regular reporting on social media performance and work closely with organizational leadership to strengthen their online presence. Responsibilities include producing graphics, suggesting creative content ideas, writing scripts for direct-to-camera videos, and developing content for emerging platforms like Substack.

This full-time position reports to the Associate Social Media Director. The salary begins at $70,000 and varies based on experience. To maintain fairness and pay equity, Indivisible uses a structured, non-negotiable salary system that considers a candidate’s full professional and educational background.

Content Development and Execution (40%)

Work with team members to develop and implement social media strategies for Indivisible campaigns. Manage the Instagram and Threads accounts of the organization’s co-executive directors. Create daily content that highlights advocacy efforts and political partnerships.

Collaborate with the creative team to produce social media explainers such as videos and carousel posts. Monitor activity from local Indivisible groups and highlight their initiatives and achievements. Track news developments and share relevant clips from television or online media.

Support the development of strategies to grow audiences across existing and emerging platforms. Adapt existing content for cross-posting on different channels. Prepare talking points and storyboard video content to respond quickly to breaking news and timely moments.

Organizational Leadership Development (25%)

Coordinate the social media team’s work with Indivisible leadership. Monitor media appearances and livestreams from the Executive Director to identify clips suitable for social media posts.

Track leadership activity on social platforms and support the production of content for emerging platforms such as Substack.

Cross-Team Coordination and Support (25%)

Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to present organizational resources in engaging ways. Provide support for digital campaigns, writing projects, research tasks, and issue-related or electoral initiatives.

Assist with technical administration for multimedia projects and help support training sessions for group leaders.

Content Analysis (10%)

Lead regular reporting on social media performance, including growth and engagement metrics. Focus on analyzing how social media contributes to fundraising efforts and action campaigns driven by digital outreach.

Qualifications

Candidates should have three to four years of social media experience, either professionally or through volunteer work with political campaigns or nonprofit organizations. Experience managing or advising on the social media presence of organizational leaders, elected officials, or public figures is preferred.

Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to building a more equitable organization and supporting a progressive movement. Familiarity with social media scheduling and analytics tools is required.

Strong communication skills and the ability to write in multiple tones or voices are essential. Candidates should be able to perform effectively in a fast-paced, campaign-style environment while showing motivation and a willingness to learn.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with video editing, audio editing, and graphic design is beneficial. Proficiency with Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides is also preferred.

Salary Range

The salary range for this role is $67,650 – $92,000 per year, and the position is fully remote within the United States.
