The Digital Media, Paid & Purpose team is responsible for digital marketing with goals of acquiring and retaining Patagonia customers and brand enthusiasts. This position will support retention initiatives, with the focus on our email and SMS programs. The Retention Marketing Specialist will support the retention marketing process post creative hand-off. They will be responsible for ensuring emails are set up, segmented, and deployed without error, and will be responsible for analyzing performance, highlighting trends, and making recommendations that inform our retention marketing strategy.
The ideal candidate for this role is someone who understands the broader email marketing landscape and has a passion for digital activations. They will partner with the creative, marketing and operations teams. Success in this role will require strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to synthesize the findings from analyses for different audiences.
What You’ll Do
Send pre-deployment messaging tests: QA email creative, dynamic personalization, and landing pages in partnership with Customer Experience and Digital Operations teams
Build out audience segments per campaign based on campaign briefs, historical performance, and content
Serve as the point of contact for technical issues, working with ESP support to implement solutions and communicate resolution to stakeholders
Channel the voice of the customer throughout email creative feedback loops, ensuring that industry best practices, past performance and audiences are represented throughout the user experience
Advise on retention marketing tracking and key performance indicators per campaign, utilizing Marketing Technologies to track against KPIs
Export and analyze data to create weekly, monthly, and quarterly retention channel reports for various teams, ranging from channel-level performance to creative-level insights
Establish and maintain a testing roadmap and ensure email and SMS deployments map to the learning agenda
Stay up to date on broader industry trends: audit competitor retention programs and be an ongoing student of digital marketing
Contribute to the retention team’s roadmap, surfacing opportunities for growth and adoption of best practices in our channels

You are interested in the science of digital marketing, with a passion for digging into data to uncover actionable insights
You are organized and process-minded, particularly when juggling multiple on-going tasks or projects
Experience You Bring
2+ years working in email or another digital marketing channel, either for a brand or in an agency environment
Experience with web analytic software such as Adobe Analytics and UTM tracking codes, with expertise in analyzing and visualizing data to create insights
Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or PowerBI a plus
Experience working in ESPs to test, schedule, and report on campaigns
Experience working in Salesforce Marketing Cloud a plus
Working knowledge of HTML and email template design tools
Basic knowledge of SQL / AmpScript / other personalization language a plus
Pay range: $67,849 - $113,190
Hiring range: $80,000 - $100,000
