Position Description

XPRIZE is seeking an experienced Project Manager for the XPRIZE Healthspan. The Project Manager will bring extensive professional experience supporting large, complex projects across an ecosystem of diverse entities. They will drive the project management efforts in support of operations leading up to and through the XPRIZE Healthspan clinical testing program used to identify the winners of milestones and the grand prize awards. This will include developing and managing protocols, interfacing with regulatory agencies, coordinating between multiple vendors, organizing international site visits, liaising with teams, reporting progress against project objectives and managing other day-to-day activities. They will also be responsible for reviewing vendor invoices and expenses, managing procurements, initiating contracts, supporting budget management, communication projects, and other tasks as needed. They will be responsible for managing projects and deliverables in consultation with internal XPRIZE departments such as marketing, IT, and finance, in coordination with external vendors and other partners as needed. They will also play a key role supporting other strategic initiatives, events, and activities to scale the impact of the prize.

 


Responsibilities

  • Provides high-level prize operations and project management support for the XPRIZE Healthspan as it prepares for the prize launch, protocol harmonization, site visits, and testing
  • Builds and manages project plans, including day to day task tracking and managing the prize team to meet deadlines
  • Drives procurement process to secure a complex set of subcontractors to conduct measurement and verification across a range of biomarker platforms and assessment measures for milestone prizes and the finals
  • Drives planning for site visits of competing teams in coordination with the Team Relations Manager, including preparing site visit plans, and coordinating overall logistics and scheduling
  • Drives the development of the Prize Operations Portal (POP) for major submission milestones as soon as Q4 of 2023 and Q1 of 2024[1]
  • Participates in and supports planning for Judge Summits
  • Reviews vendor invoices and expenses, initiates POs, tracks prize expenditures and in coordination with the Prize Director
  • Drafts SOWs and initiates and manages creation of new contracts with legal
  • Project manages risk planning exercise for the team
  • Builds and maintains project plans relating to inter-departmental initiatives such as marketing and IT, and coordinating with other departments to ensure on-time and high quality delivery of strategic initiatives.
  • Works with marketing specialists to ensure that Prize communications are delivered as expected and with quality
  • Ensures internal systems and infrastructure are in place ahead of key competition milestones
  • Manages XPRIZE digital resource library for Health domain
  • Represents the prize at internal and external meetings as needed

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Minimum 5-10 years of clinical research experience in project management
  • PMP certification required with experience designing, managing, monitoring, and executing large multi-year projects
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Experience managing multi-site clinical trials, clinical research, and similar testing programs including regulatory interface
  • Subject matter experience related to health and aging strongly preferred
  • Experience writing and managing clinical protocols and regulatory documents (e.g. Institutional Review Board, FDA Investigational New Drug applications)
  • Savvy with IT systems including project management software, productivity and collaboration tools, and experience gathering and implementing user requirements a plus
  • Ability to problem solve and remain highly organized in dynamic settings
  • Ability to think calmly and creatively in highly fluid situations and under deadlines
  • Experience with preparing and speaking in front of groups and facilitating conversations around particular topics
  • Willingness to work independently in remote locations during site visits
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse stakeholders

The anticipated base salary for this position is $90-$125k depending on experience and education and may also qualify for an annual incentive. This role is eligible for our extensive benefits package and generous paid time off including vacation, sick, and holidays. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors including the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience for the role, level of education attained, and certifications and/or other licenses held. XPRIZE is a remote-first environment.
