The School of Social Work mission is to develop and disseminate knowledge through social work research, education, and training that promotes social and economic justice and strengthens individual, family, and community well-being in this diverse and increasingly global environment of New Jersey and beyond.
The School of Social Work hosts five certificate programs as part of the MSW Curriculum. This position will support these certificate programs including the ACT (Alcohol Counselor Training) Certificate; the Certificate in Aging and Health; CHAP, Promoting Child and Adolescent Well-Being; Certificate on Interpersonal Violence and Trauma (C-IVT); and Latina/o/x Initiatives for Service, Training, and Assessment (LISTA).
These certificate programs function under the direction of full-time faculty. These certificate programs enhance student learning and practicum learning training by allowing students to focus on specialized areas within professional social work. The certificate programs are optional programs for students and involve application and selection processes. The students involved in certificate programs require additional and specific information, guidance, advising, and monitoring. This position will oversee many aspects of these certificate programs and will organize, administer, and coordinate multiple facets of these certificate programs. The certificate program coordinator will be directly involved in the planning, preparation, evaluation, and control of communications, events, records, statistics, reports, and documents. The certificate program coordinator will develop processes and identify and recruit additional program resources. The position will serve as liaison with various departments, faculty, and administrators to determine special program requirements, modifications, or innovations. The work of the certificate program coordinator will be consistent with an understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the School of Social Work and the individual certificate programs.
