The Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT) is the provincial professional association of over 4,700 occupational therapists and student occupational therapists. We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our 6-person staff team in our Toronto, Ontario office.
This is an exciting new opportunity as the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists continues to grow with a Marketing and Communications Specialist. This position contributes directly to the organization’s Strategic Plan through supporting its marketing and communications needs. The successful candidate will provide support to member services, professional development, and overall promotion of the profession as we embark on an exciting new strategic plan. Ongoing quality improvement lens applies to all work. The Marketing and Communications Specialist develops creative and impactful marketing strategies and communications to promote the profession and communicate with members and other interested groups.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
Marketing:
- Develop and implement a marketing strategy to recruit and retain new members.
- Develop and implement a professional promotion strategy to raise awareness of the profession directed to the public, other professions, government, and other key groups.
- Develop and implement a marketing plan to attract new membership categories.
- Engage in advocacy initiatives.
Communications:
- Develop and implement enhanced comprehensive strategies to improve engagement of members, potential members, interested parties, and provincial and local government.
- Manage and support the development, maintenance, and improvement of OSOT’s websites including creating, and working collaboratively to create content.
- Work collaboratively with staff team to create, share, and expand our social media content.
- Manage membership communications including newsletter, professional development offerings, renewal, conference app, etc.
- Work with others to ensure consistent branding and messaging.
- Ensure all written material is easily understood by the target audience and applies equity, diversity, and inclusive language.
General:
- Track marketing and communications analytics for impact.
- Provide accurate, responsive, and professional reports on effectiveness of marketing and communications and makes recommendations for quality improvement.
- Provide input into OSOT’s strategic and operational planning focusing on opportunities for organizational growth and development.
- Work collaboratively with contractors including IT consultants, designers, etc. to implement the marketing and communications strategy.
- Develop and implement Occupational Therapy Month plan and activities.
Key Qualifications Required:
What you will bring to the role:
- Minimum 4 years prior experience in related field. Experience working with not-for-profit organizations preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to cultivate, develop, and manage internal and external relationships.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrated project management experience (an asset).
- A team player and collaborator, and also comfortable working independently.
- Sound judgment, discretion, diplomacy, and professionalism.
- Fluency in French is an asset.
Education:
- Post-secondary education in marketing and/or communication, or related field or equivalent education and experience.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software applications (including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Experience using Canva, Constant Contact, or similar software.
- Demonstrated proficiency in data analytics (e.g. Google Analytics).
Work Schedule:
This position is a hybrid role. Hours of operation are 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
