Summary
The Full Stack Web Developer at CIAT designs, builds, and maintains modern web applications that support student experience, marketing funnels, and internal operations. This role works across the full stack including front end, back end, databases, and integrations to deliver secure, scalable, and responsive solutions aligned with CIAT’s growth and innovation goals in career-focused higher education.
You will collaborate closely with the Marketing team and IT stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable web-based solutions, continuously improving performance, usability, and conversion outcomes through data and user feedback.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and optimize web applications using PHP/Laravel, WordPress, and Node.js
- Collaborate with stakeholders, designers, QA, and developers to define requirements and deliver features
- Troubleshoot, profile, and optimize code for performance, stability, and security
- Write clean, well-structured, and well-documented code and participate in code reviews
- Monitor application health, identify bottlenecks or bugs, and implement fixes
- Serve as the first point of contact for updates and enhancements on CIAT web properties such as ciat.edu, including content, design, and functionality changes
- Build responsive and interactive web pages aligned with CIAT brand guidelines
- Ensure all website content remains editable and version controlled for team collaboration
- Work with internal and third party developers to triage, delegate, and test updates
- Gather requirements and provide accurate time estimates for web projects
- Implement design specifications and collaborate with marketing to enhance user experience within constraints
- Monitor analytics and visitor behavior to recommend improvements in accessibility and functionality
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors
- Apply critical thinking to solve complex business challenges programmatically
- Stay current with emerging tools, frameworks, and industry trends
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, accreditation, and institutional requirements
- Contribute to team goals and outcomes as needed

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in software development, computer science, or related field or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of professional web development experience
- 7+ years working with version control tools such as Git
- Advanced expertise in PHP/Laravel including Eloquent relationships, service containers, event driven design, and queues
- Experience with backend languages such as Rust or exposure to Go or Python preferred
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power Pages preferred
- Strong WordPress expertise including multisite or headless setups, REST API customization, and caching strategies
- Strong Node.js experience including service oriented architecture, WebSockets, and performance profiling
- Proficiency in front end development including JavaScript ES6+, CSS, SASS or LESS, and frameworks such as React or Vue.js
- Experience designing and optimizing relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL and working with NoSQL systems such as Redis or MongoDB
- Experience with containerization such as Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes
- Strong API design skills including REST, GraphQL, OAuth2, JWT, and real time communication
- Experience with automated testing tools such as PHPUnit, Jest or Mocha, or Cypress
- Knowledge of security best practices including OWASP, content security policies, and secure coding
- Strong focus on scalability, reliability, and proactive issue resolution
- Proficient use of Git with emphasis on maintainability and clear history
- Understanding of responsive design, UI and UX principles, and SEO best practices
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new tools and methodologies
- Strong organizational and time estimation skills
- Ability to work independently and deliver within structured development cycles
- Strong communication and teamwork skills

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Monday through Friday. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

Salary Range
The starting salary range for this role is $85,000 to $95,000 annually, depending on experience, education, and business needs.
