Description of Position

This position will manage the day-to-day communications efforts of the administrative office and ministries of the church. This position is the primary point of contact regarding branding and worship communications in both digital and hard copy. This position provides general administrative support to the Director of Administration, Pastors and ministries of the church.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities

In the area of Communications:

  1. Primary management of all branding and media communications of the administrative team.
  2. Create dynamic and professional graphics for communications.
  3. Publish materials such as announcements, digital sign ads, newsletter, weekly service handouts, funeral bulletins, etc. to effectively communicate all aspects of the worship experience and activities to the congregation in various mediums.
  4. Manage the collection and editing of all articles and announcements for all church publications including the email blasts, Good Word of the Day and the LifeLines newsletter.
  5. Schedule and maintain all standard calendar items and work with groups to ensure that room scheduling requirements are met.
  6. Work with the Facility Manager to ensure Access Control Systems match scheduling requirements.
  7. Primary point of contact for maintenance or service of office machines with special emphasis on production printer/copier used for mass communication preparation.
  8. Primary point of contact for preparation and notifications required to support the hosting of funerals or memorial services.
  9. Provide on campus media support during regular working hours.

In the area of Hospitality:

  1. Successfully execute hospitality procedures for the front office to ensure a warm and welcoming environment for guests.
  2. Support the Office Manager to greet visitors to the church office and manage all visitor inquiries for dispatch to other staff or lay leaders.
  3. Support ticket sales, book sales, class signups, retreat registrations and all other “drop in” activities at the church during office hours.
  4. Answer phones, transfer calls and communicate caller information accurately to pastors and staff.
  5. Screen vendor and visitor “pest” calls.

In the area of Ministry Support:

  1. Create and publish worship support materials such as announcement presentation slides, prayer reports and worship support slides.
  2. Create and publish social media posts and announcements in support of all ministries of the church.

In the area of General Office:

  1. Assist in open/close operations of the office.
  2. Aid other administrative functions in times of high activity and provide vacation/sick coverage.
  3. Cross train with Office Manager for critical process support:
  4. Provide input to help refine and redesign process or procedures where applicable.
  5. Maintain general organization and cleanliness of office and lobby areas.
  6. Provide assistance to, and complete projects as directed by the Director of Administration.
  7. Assist in maintaining building security, cleanliness and notification of sub-standard items observed around the church campus.
  8. Provide general support for committees and ministry activities as required.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

In a supervisory role, this position will be responsible for guiding and assignment of tasks as well as the development and performance reviews of the positions identified.

This position schedules and supervises the following paid position:

This position will supervise the following volunteer positions:

  1. Newsletter/Bulletin Crew

Schedule & Hours

Regularly scheduled office hours for this position will be:

October through April: Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

May Through September: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Other

This position reports to and is directly responsible to the Director of Administration. This position will operate under the guidance and direction the Pastors and the Office Manager. This position works under the general policies and directives established by the Congregational Council. This position’s performance review will be conducted by the Director of Administration on an annual basis.

This position must also:

  1. Understand and support the vision and mission of Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
  2. Support all areas of ministry as well as laity in the areas defined.
  3. Perform tasks, from time to time, not defined above in supports of the goals of the church or ministries.
  4. Perform miscellaneous tasks or duties in support of the daily operation of the organization.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $42,000.00 per year
