Our client is a multi-VC-backed startup building the operating system for high-performance living across travel, dining, experiences, goods & gifting, and longevity. They are hiring a Founding Backend Engineer to join their team in New York.

The company has raised $4M+ from tier-1 investors, is growing revenue 30%+ MoM, and has built a proactive, prompt-less product described as “magic” by paying customers.

Role: Founding Engineer (Backend)

1. Own backend systems end-to-end, from architecture to production
2. Build scalable services and APIs in Python/Django
3. Lead agent orchestration, LLM integrations, and data pipelines
4. Design and operate cloud infrastructure on GCP
5. Work directly with founders and shape long-term technical direction

Essential Skills:

1. 5+ years building production backend systems
2. Expert Django and strong Python experience
3. Distributed systems, SQL performance, and cloud-native architecture
4. High-ownership, product-minded engineer comfortable in early-stage environments

Nice to Have:

1. Experience with LLMs, agentic systems, or ML tooling
2. Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
3. Security/compliance exposure

Comp:

1. $325k OTE ($275k base + $50k uncapped bonus)
