SALARY: $36,682 - $64,194

 

The Challenge

We are looking for a skilled Automotive Mechanic/Equipment Repair Technician to join our Maintenance Operations & Fleet Management team.

 

In this role, you will:

  1. Provide journey-level maintenance and repairs of automotive, heavy-duty trucks, and equipment bodies in accordance with accepted standards and repair practices.
  2. Perform bending, straightening, and replacing of body panels.
  3. Mix, apply, and shape body fillers or other substances for body repair.
  4. Perform cutting, shaping, and installing of glass panels.
  5. Repair automotive interior work as needed for equipment in the NCDOT fleet.
  6. Sand and prepare surfaces prior to painting.
  7. Mix paints with appropriate hardeners or other chemicals.
  8. Apply finishes to surfaces.
  9. Prepare new equipment for use in our 14 highway divisions.
  10. Install bodies on truck chassis, brooms on wheel tractors, mowers on tractors, lights, reflectors, decals, or other safety devices, hydraulic accessories.

 

What You Bring

  1. Knowledge of auto body repair and basic auto mechanic tool usage.
  2. Demonstrated ability to shape, bend, and weld body panels along with the proper use of putty, fiberglass, or other chemical mixtures.
  3. Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend parts/service manuals along with parts requisitions and daily time records.
  4. Knowledge of techniques and methods used in determining and solving mechanical problems.
  5. Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

 

Note

  1. We may require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III, or Universal Technician.

 

Education & Experience

  1. High School/GED diploma, and
  2. 2+ years of repair work experience, or
  3. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
