Virtual Contract Tutor — K–12 (Math, ELA, Academic Coaching)

Conscious Tutoring is a small, specialized virtual tutoring practice serving K–12 students nationwide. We are hiring experienced, creative, and highly available contract tutors in Math, ELA (Reading & Writing), and Academic Coaching / Executive Function to join our tight-knit team of fewer than four educators.

Please make sure your availability and your areas of expertise are clear on your resume / cover letter. Applicants that fit our openings will be sent a Google form for more information as a step 2.

More about the role:

This role is ideal for educators who love teaching deeply, enjoy designing meaningful curriculum, and value emotional connection as much as academic progress. If you thrive in personalized learning environments and want to do work that actually changes how students feel about learning, this role is for you.

About the Work

Tutors at Conscious Tutoring work closely with students in 1:1 and small-group virtual sessions. You will be responsible for delivering structured, evidence-based instruction while also adapting creatively to each student’s needs, learning style, and nervous system state. Our students include those with ADHD, dyslexia, learning differences, anxiety, as well as students seeking enrichment or acceleration.

You’ll collaborate directly with the founder and lead educator to:

  1. Design and refine engaging, skill-based curriculum
  2. Integrate regulation, confidence-building, and focus strategies into instruction
  3. Track student progress and contribute to individualized learning plans
  4. Create learning experiences that are relational, motivating, and effective

This is not a plug-and-play curriculum role — your expertise, creativity, and professional judgment matter here.

Program Areas

We are hiring tutors with experience in one or more of the following:

ELA (K–12)

  1. Reading instruction (phonics, decoding, fluency, comprehension)
  2. Writing instruction (sentence structure, paragraphs, essays, organization)
  3. Orton-Gillingham–informed or structured literacy experience strongly preferred

Math (K–12)

  1. Foundational math, intervention, and confidence rebuilding
  2. Upper elementary through high school math support
  3. Ability to explain concepts clearly and creatively

Academic Coaching / Executive Function (Grades 4–12)

  1. Organization, planning, time management, study skills
  2. Support for ADHD and anxious learners
  3. Teaching students how to learn, not just what to learn

Who We’re Looking For

  1. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree, certification, or advanced training (like OG) strongly preferred
  2. Background in education, special education, literacy, psychology, or related fields
  3. Experience working with neurodivergent learners (ADHD, dyslexia, executive function challenges)
  4. High availability during weekday afternoons/evenings (and some flexibility)
  5. Comfort teaching virtually with warmth, presence, and clarity
  6. Creative, curious, and excited to co-create curriculum — not just deliver it
  7. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Our Teaching Philosophy

At Conscious Tutoring, somatic awareness and emotional connection are part of the work. We believe students learn best when they feel regulated, supported, and capable. Tutors are encouraged to:

  1. Notice student energy and attention and adjust pacing accordingly
  2. Use brief regulation or grounding strategies when needed
  3. Build relationships that foster trust, confidence, and engagement.

This is especially important for students who have struggled in traditional learning environments.

Why Work With Us

  1. Small, highly involved team — no burnout factory vibes
  2. Hands-on collaboration and real input into program design
  3. Meaningful, relationship-driven teaching
  4. Flexible, remote, contract-based work
  5. Students who stay long-term and grow noticeably
