TITLE: AI/ML Technical Writer

ANTICIPATION DURATON: 12 Months

Overview

EngEDU is looking to hire a Technical Writer III on a 12-month contract to support Generative AI (GenAI) education projects. This role requires expertise in technical writing and AI/ML, with a strong ability to create clear, concise, and well-organized technical content for diverse audiences. The ideal candidate will have experience documenting AI/ML systems, with familiarity in Gemini APIs, TensorFlow, or JAX being a plus.

We are open to candidates from any global location but require at least four hours of overlap with US Pacific Time for meetings and collaboration at least three days per week.

Responsibilities

1. Develop and maintain high-quality documentation and educational materials for AI/ML projects.
2. Map existing GenAI workflows by collaborating with subject matter experts.
3. Produce clear and well-structured content tailored for a technical audience, including developers and infrastructure teams.
4. Scope projects, define content plans, and secure stakeholder buy-in.
5. Determine appropriate levels of detail for complex technical information and refine content iteratively.
6. Manage community-driven documentation and encourage active contributions.
7. Review, revise, and edit materials prepared by researchers, engineers, and policy experts.
8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance content quality and adoption.
9. Research, establish, and enforce style guidelines aligned with company strategy.
10. Develop and execute a knowledge management strategy for evolving AI/ML projects.

Ongoing Tasks

1. Create or update documentation on a weekly basis.
2. Participate in weekly meetings with subject matter experts to gather information.
3. Analyze and report on documentation impact and reach monthly.
4. Provide weekly progress updates on assigned tasks.
5. Develop promotional materials to drive documentation adoption.
6. Establish and maintain style guidelines for large documentation projects.
7. Ensure alignment of documentation with adjacent project timelines and objectives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

1. Proven experience as a technical writer, producing clear and effective documentation.
2. Strong knowledge of AI/ML concepts and ability to explain both high- and low-level technical details.
3. Experience documenting machine learning frameworks or AI systems.
4. Excellent ability to organize and structure content for different learning styles and technical backgrounds.
5. Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, researchers, and product teams.
6. Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
7. Experience working with community-driven documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Familiarity with Gemini APIs, TensorFlow, or JAX.
2. Experience creating technical architecture diagrams and educational materials.
3. Background in compliance, legal, or branding requirements for technical content.
4. Prior experience writing whitepapers, blog posts, or developer-focused content.

The hourly pay rate range for this position is $65.00 to $72.00/hr (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
