Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of developers, providing technical guidance, conducting code reviews, and ensuring adherence to best practices, coding standards, and platform capabilities.

3. Solution Design & Strategy: Act as a subject matter expert for the Shopify ecosystem. Plan, analyze, and provide technical recommendations during the solution design and execution phase of projects.

5. Project Management & Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and backend API teams. Serve as a technical bridge, translating business requirements into clear, actionable development plans.

7. Development & Implementation: Architect, develop, and maintain custom Shopify themes and apps using Liquid, JavaScript (including React.js and Next.js), and other relevant technologies. Implement headless commerce solutions where applicable.

9. Integrations & APIs: Design and build robust custom connectors for third-party systems such as content management, inventory, and fulfillment, leveraging Shopify's APIs (REST and GraphQL).

11. Performance Optimization: Oversee and implement performance optimization strategies to ensure top-tier Core Web Vitals and overall site speed for a mobile-first user experience.

13. Workflow Automation: Streamline development and deployment workflows, utilizing tools like Gulp, Webpack, Yarn, Git/Bitbucket, and project management tools like Jira and Asana.

1. Create and lead the team's technical documentation and repository management practices, including tasks such as creating branches, pull requests, merges, etc.

1. Be an active leader in the Engineering Practice community, mentoring Senior Engineers and others through Communities of Practice (CoPs) or on project teams, supporting the growth of technical capabilities.

Skills:

1. Experience: 9+ years of professional experience in web development, with at least 3 years specializing in the Shopify/Shopify Plus platform.
2. Technical Proficiency:
3. Front-end: HTML5, CSS3/SCSS/SASS, JavaScript (ES6+), jQuery, React.js, Next.js/Vercel.
4. Shopify: Deep expertise in the Shopify ecosystem, including Liquid, Shopify APIs, and building custom storefronts from scratch.
5. Back-end/APIs: Experience with Node.js, PHP, and working with REST APIs.
6. Tools: Proficient with version control systems (Git/Bitbucket), build tools (Gulp/Webpack), and project management tools (Jira, Asana, Trello).
7. Headless Commerce: Demonstrated experience with headless commerce architecture, specifically using Next.js and Vercel.
8. Leadership: Proven experience in a technical lead or senior developer role, with a track record of mentoring junior developers and leading project teams.
9. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
10. Communication: Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and providing clear, constructive feedback to development teams.

Additional Experience Desired:

1. Ability to set technical strategy and direct implementation across several teams/whole product.
2. Ability to refine and clarify technical details (including definition of done) based on internal or external PO for User Stories and task assignments.
3. Ability to provide technical orchestration among the overall tasks.
4. Experience in building CI/CD pipelines.
5. Knowledge of building Cloud Native applications.
