Job Description:

These are 40-hour, Monday through Friday, temporary summer positions located onsite in Martinez, CA. Requirements include a current, full–time student status, at least 16 years of age, possess a valid California Driver’s License, and have a satisfactory driving history. These temporary positions are a summer commitment starting in May/June 2024 and finishing in August/September 2024. These assignments provide an opportunity for students to gain work experience in a wastewater utility. ENGINEERING AND TECHNICAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT (2 positions)


Planning and Development Services Division (1 positions)


ENGINEERING ASSISTANT – This summer position is for engineering majors interested in gaining work experience in the wastewater industry.


One (1) Engineering Assistant position in the Planning and Development Services Division with the Planning and Applied Research Group working on recycled water and treatment plant tasks.


Preferred Qualifications - Central San is seeking students with environmental, civil, mechanical, chemical, or related engineering majors. Attention to detail and strong computer skills are required. Students should be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and should understand basic mathematics, chemistry, and engineering concepts. Should have ability to organize work assignments, write clear and concise reports and memoranda, and may need to work with construction drawings and system maps. Students with strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and in teams are preferred.


Environmental and Regulatory Compliance Division (1 position)


LABORATORY ASSISTANT - This position with the Laboratory Group requires at least two semesters of college laboratory experience in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, microbiology, chemical, or a related field. Major duties include chemical inventory, organization of laboratory equipment, field sampling, routine gravimetric and wet chemistry analyses of water, wastewater, and its byproducts.


Preferred Qualifications - College junior or senior standing is highly desirable.
