Job Description:

This is a great, temporary summer camp arts instructor opportunity, one in which has amazing impact, working with underserved LAUSD students, at a beautiful, outdoor location in Calabasas. You will have an amazing time, employ your talents, and make a positive impact on youth that truly need mentorship, compassion and inspiration. This position is for TWO WEEKS in June-from June 18th to June 28th 8:30 am to 4 pm-Tues-Friday the first week, and Monday-Friday the second week, with the training days being June 18th-19th, which includes free CPR-First-Aid training and certification for two years. The pay rate is $20 per hour. (We are also hiring for our beach camp at Zuma Beach in Malibu, Wednesdays through Fridays in July-please let us know if you are interested in BOTH positions.)

Responsibilities:

  • Helping with set-up of camp activities in the morning
  • Helping with break down and organization of supplies and materials after camp ends each day
  • Overseeing set-up and serving of lunch
  • Help with assisting art instructors in art activities
  • Help in assisting other facilities with activities as needed
  • Participating on some of the hikes with the Hiking Master and the campers
  • Helping core staff with organizing activities
  • Supervising youth at all times
  • Keeping all working areas clean and tidy and organized, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with youth preferred
  • A great attitude, love of working with others in an inspiring setting
  • STEAM education knowledge a plus, but not necessary
  • Genuine love and interest in working with children and/or education
  • Ability to maintain a high level of energy and exceptional enthusiasm each day
  • Ability to keep supplies clean and highly organized
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by start of camp to ensure staff and campers are as safe and healthy as possible and to comply with enhanced health and safety protocol
  • Ability to work with groups of youth
  • Ability to work outdoors (in a covered, seated setting)
  • Work with our staff to incorporate chosen art activities (which will be take-home project activities for our campers)
  • Assist with daily set up of your working space and materials, and cleanup afterwards
  • Some light lifting of materials and supplies on occasion, of up to 25 lbs.
