Global Channel Development is a strategic business unit that plays a key role at Starbucks by elevating and amplifying the Starbucks Brand through At-Home Coffee, Ready-to-Drink and Foodservice solutions. Today, we serve consumers in 87 markets around the world, whether they’re shopping in grocery store or online, in their workplace or traveling. Global Channel Development does this within a World Class Partnerships model, building relationships and collaborating with business partners like Nestlé and PepsiCo, to bring Starbucks products to life around the world.

This role contributes to Starbucks success by developing strategies and creating strategic recommendations to inform business opportunities, while working globally and cross-functionally, and directly with the Global Channel Development Leadership Team. You will be developing strategies and recommendations using quantitative and qualitative methodologies, and playing a key role in developing the business unit’s strategic plan. You will also have responsibility for driving workstreams with cross functional stakeholders in service of overall business planning, including strategic planning, operational and financial planning process.

As a strategy manager, planning & business operations you will…

  • Set goals for the work group, develop organizational capability, and model how we work together:
    • Identify and communicate key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promote a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
    • Support the implementation of company programs to ensure the success of the Company.
  • Provide functional expertise and execute functional responsibilities:
    • Lead strategic project problem solving efforts by helping the team identify and define key issues, develop hypotheses and design required analyses. Provide problem solving leadership across entire project to cross- functional teams. Guide the team in thinking through complex and ambiguous issues, identify creative information sources and approach and push the team to develop new insights. Oversee and review team analytics to ensure integrity and accuracy.
    • Create structure presentations illustrating key business issues, new insights and recommendations. Communicate team recommendations to executive leadership team and field questions and concerns. Communicate learnings and insights across cross-functional team, strategy team leadership and executive sponsors. Develop strong working relationships with sponsoring executives related to project work.
    • Review and provide guidance to cross-functional sub-teams in developing robust and detailed workplans. Manage overall project work plans, define approach, timing and key deliverables. Ensure that cross-functional team meet all project deliverables and timelines.
  • Develop strategic and operational plans for the work group, manage execution, and measure results:
    • Plan and manage business unit and department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
    • Prepare, communicate and educate client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization.

 

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience (MBA strongly preferred)
  • Minimum 7 years total experience in strategic management consulting, strategy, or CPG category development
  • Strategic management consulting 4 years
  • Data analysis and modeling 2 years
  • Developing and delivering presentations to executive level audiences 2 years
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to confidently present objectives and desired outcomes to leadership and cross functional teams
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Ability to simplify and structure complex and ambiguous problems
  • Ability to resolve issues or debates independently in most situations
  • Project management skills for large and complex problems involving multiple sub-teams
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
