Overview

Client First Technologies currently is seeking a Sr. DevSecOps/Reliability Engineer to support our government customer. The ideal candidate will a be a highly skilled, self-directed, and experienced Sr. DevOps Engineer, with a strong background in leading deployment, integration, and version upgrades of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products, repeatedly and with a focus on automation. As a Sr. DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for leading deployment processes, performing root cause analysis to resolve system outages, operational issues, and writing comprehensive documentation that supports DevOps processes.

Responsibilities

Execute Deployments, Integrations, and Version Upgrade Tasks:

  1. Engineer repeatable DevOps processes to Deploy, integrate, and patch containerized COTS products using GitOps, OpenShift, ArgpCD, Redhat Pipelines (Tekton), Redhat Quay, and Kustomize across various Linux operating systems
  2. Ensure seamless integration with existing systems and infrastructure in accordance with organizational standards, governance, and security practices
  3. Clearly communicate, and coordinate tasks with stakeholders/team members to ensure successful implementation and upgrades
  4. Maintain continuous security compliance and mitigate findings in live production environments as well as by applying mitigations to repeatable DevOps automation
  5. Implement automated DevSecOps security solutions (e.g., key rotation in K8 GitOps environments)

Optimize Deployment Processes:

  1. Analyze current deployment processes, document improved DevOps solutions, and develop detailed implementation, plans
  2. Develop and implement configurations, scripts, and tools to automate DevOps processes using GitOps workflows, Kubernetes YAML configurations, ConfigMaps, Kustomize Overlays, bash scripts, PowerShell, and other scripting languages as needed
  3. Continuously monitor and optimize deployment workflows to enhance efficiency and reliability

Perform Root Cause Analysis and Issue Resolution:

  1. Investigate and diagnose the root causes of system outages and performance issues.
  2. Develop, document, and implement effective solutions to prevent recurrence of operational issues or errors in DevOps processes
  3. Clearly communicate and collaborate with other teams to ensure timely resolution of issues.

Write Comprehensive Documentation:

  1. Create and maintain detailed documentation, including physical and logical diagrams, solution implementation plans, installation guides, backout and rollback plans, test plans, and test scripts
  2. Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders
  3. Provide training and support to team members on documentation usage and updates
  4. Experience troubleshooting and implementing fixes for security vulnerabilities across web, application, and database servers

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required
  2. Minimum of nine (9) years of experience in DevOps in OpenShift environments
  3. Self-starter that can prioritize engineering tasks, perform needed research, develop solutions, and conduct DevOps functions with minimal direction or supervision
  4. Extensive experience designing, implementing and maintaining DevOps solutions on OpenShift using GitOps, RedHat Quay, ArgoCD, RedHat Pipelines (Tekton), Kubernetes, and Kustomize Overlays
  5. Extensive DevOps engineering experience across various Linux operating systems
  6. Extensive experience in GitHub repository management and version control. Ability to autonomously execute engineering tasks for deployments, integrations, and version upgrades of containerized COTS products
  7. Extensive experience optimizing deployment processes through automation
  8. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and resolve issues
  9. Proficiency in writing comprehensive technical documentation
  10. Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  2. Experience working with VAPO (Veterans Affairs Platform One)
  3. Experience engineering DevOps solutions on Amazon Web Services
  4. Experience working with or designing Single Sign On (SSO) solutions
  5. Experience designing, implementing, and operating Grafana Dashboards
  6. Experience with Postgres, MongoDB, and Redis

Physical Demands

  1. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  2. Occasional travel and overtime may be required

Required Clearances and Screenings

  1. This position is subject to a government background investigation and must meet eligibility for a position designated with Moderate Risk sensitivity. Candidates with current Veterans Affairs (VA) Tier 2/Moderate Background Investigation or equivalent (e.g., DoD Tier 3/NACLC, Active Secret) are preferred
