Job Description:

We're hiring a Human Resources Specialist to support the employee experience at our LAX airport location. This role involves handling basic HR administrative tasks, recruitment support, onboarding facilitation, leave of absence and workers’ compensation administration as well as contributing to learning and development and employee engagement initiatives.

This role requires an onsite presence at LAX Tom Bradley International Terminal, Monday – Friday during normal business hours. Ability to occasionally work weekends, nights, or overtime as needed.

Responsibilities
 

  • Process required pre-employment and new hire activities - arrange background checks, coordinate airport fingerprint and badging, and ensure new hires complete required documentation in HRIS.
  • Assist in coordinating and administering new hire orientation and onboarding.
  • Act as one of the locations authorized signers for Airport Badge and U.S. Customs Seals Programs in compliance with Airport Security and U.S. Customs regulations.
  • Support with administering and tracking of compliance trainings and company policy renewals.
  • Assist with employee benefits programs including new employee health benefits orientation and enrollment, annual open enrollment, 401(k), and retiree program.
  • Address employee inquiries related to pay, benefits, and general HR matters, escalating to appropriate channels as needed.
  • Process offboarding and conduct exit interviews.
  • Process and track Leave of Absences and Workers Compensation claims in partnership with the HR Manager.
  • Maintain both physical and digital employee and HR files.
  • Stay informed on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, specifically for California and Los Angles.
  • Identify and recommend new approaches and procedures to improve department efficiency and enhance the employee experience.
  • Supports and backs-up the Human Resource manager with additional tasks and projects as needed.

  • Experience with HRIS and Timekeeping systems such as Success Factors, SAP, Kronos
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex airport environment.
     

Work Experience & Educational Requirements
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, psychology, or related fields, Preferred, High school diploma and equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of two years of human resources experience preferred.
  • This role is hourly, non-exempt and has a range from $23.00 - $34.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
