Company Overview
EV adoption continues to grow - but our power grid was not built to withstand this level of electricity demand, and charging remains a major challenge for drivers. With over 80% of EV charging occurring at home, ChargeScape was formed by some of the world's largest automakers (BMW, Ford, Honda, and Nissan - with more joining soon) with the mission to enable everyone to access sustainable, affordable energy from a reliable power grid.
ChargeScape's software platform serves as the connective tissue between EV drivers and power utilities, using cloud-based commands to schedule EV charging for the most grid-friendly, low-carbon hours, all while putting money back in drivers' wallets. Backed by a well-capitalized joint venture, we are expanding our engineering team to continue scaling our vehicle-grid integration platform and supporting new technical initiatives.

This is a high-impact individual contributor role focused on full-stack development, technical execution, and continuous improvement, with hands-on responsibilities across the full stack. You'll work closely with our engineering leadership and distributed teams to contribute to strategic engineering efforts on our utility and OEM platforms while supporting emerging technical initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Stack Development: Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality, scalable web applications using React, Next.js, Java, and Spring Boot, running on AWS.
- Architecture & System Design: Contribute to architectural decisions and collaborate with senior engineers on designing scalable and secure solutions. Follow and reinforce engineering best practices across your projects.
- Platform Improvements: Build tools and systems for data ingestion, transformation, and partner integrations. Improve data flows, optimize performance, and ensure data integrity across the platform.
- Infrastructure & Reliability: Enhance and maintain CI/CD pipelines, observability systems, and AWS infrastructure (EC2, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, etc.). Identify and help resolve performance, scalability, and security concerns.
- Proofs of Concept & Technical Research: Design and build proofs of concept to evaluate new technologies and patterns. Contribute to experimentation with emerging tools and approaches, including AI and ML applications.
- Technical Collaboration: Collaborate effectively across time zones and functions, especially with our Brazil-based developers. Support other engineers through code review, technical discussion, and knowledge sharing.
- Hands-on Coding: Contribute production-quality code on both backend and frontend projects with a strong focus on maintainability and scalability.
- Problem Solving: Navigate and resolve technical challenges with sound engineering judgment and creative problem-solving.
- AI-Augmented Development: Leverage AI tools and modern developer workflows to rapidly prototype software, accelerate iteration cycles, and explore solutions faster than traditional approaches allow.
Qualifications
