The Faculty of Engineering and IT (FEIT) Mechanical Fitter Apprenticeship Program has been launched as a pathway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to begin their careers with the University of Technology Sydney. We are offering three (3) four-year apprenticeships which will see the successful applicants complete a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter/Machinist) and receive a trade qualification from TAFE as a Fitter Machinist.
This is a great opportunity to develop and grow your technical knowledge to support the Fabrication/workshops teams. The Apprentices will support and assist faculty staff, students and industry partners, in the use of fabrication and manufacturing technologies.
The Apprentices will work on the Broadway campus and at UTS Tech Lab at Botany, giving them the opportunity to undertake training in new skills across different facilities.

Under the provisions of section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW), an exemption is given from sections 8, 25 and 51 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) to University of Technology Sydney to advertise, designate and recruit targeted roles for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons only as part of the strategic target of reaching 3% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff by 2023.

Remuneration & Benefits
Starting Salary: $28,319 to $37,759 pa
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and the appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for four years.
