Job Description:

This opportunity is for a Salesforce Developer who will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing Salesforce solutions tailored to the needs of nonprofit and higher education clients.


The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience working in a nonprofit organization, a higher education institution, or a consultancy that supports nonprofits, along with a strong command of Salesforce architecture, development, and best practices.


This role works closely with clients and project teams to understand business needs and deliver scalable, high-performing Salesforce solutions. It also includes technical guidance in configuration, customization, system integration, release readiness, risk mitigation, mentoring, and pre-sales support.


This role focuses on building, customizing, integrating, and optimizing Salesforce environments that support critical organizational functions and client goals. The position requires strong technical execution, the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and the ability to contribute to complex consulting engagements across multiple projects with fast turnaround times.


What You’ll Do


  1. Design and develop customized Salesforce solutions to support critical business functions, project goals, and client requirements
  2. Collaborate with technical leadership to design and implement scalable, secure, and best-practice Salesforce architectures
  3. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and senior stakeholders
  4. Gather and analyze requirements from both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating them into effective technical solutions
  5. Support a collaborative environment that encourages creative problem-solving across teams
  6. Develop and maintain Apex classes, triggers, Visualforce pages, Lightning components, and other custom solutions
  7. Integrate Salesforce with internal systems and third-party applications using APIs and middleware
  8. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior developers and team members
  9. Perform system audits and support Salesforce release processes to ensure smooth deployments
  10. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Salesforce applications and integrations
  11. Stay current with Salesforce updates, platform releases, and industry best practices
  12. Support pre-sales activities by contributing technical expertise and participating in solution demonstrations
  13. Develop reusable components and scalable solutions for cross-project use
  14. Contribute to internal documentation, knowledge sharing, and development standards
  15. Assist with system configuration, customization, integrations, and technical risk mitigation


Qualifications


  1. 3+ years of experience as a Salesforce Developer in nonprofit, higher education, or consulting environments
  2. Strong expertise in Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Components, and Salesforce APIs
  3. Experience with data migration, integration tools, and ETL processes
  4. Hands-on experience with integration platforms such as Mulesoft, Talend, Dell Boomi, or similar
  5. Ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced environments
  6. Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on creative technical solutions
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
  8. Interest in nonprofit or education sectors and mission-driven work
  9. Understanding of fundraising, advancement, or higher education systems
  10. High attention to detail and commitment to development standards and best practices
  11. Proactive approach to managing client expectations and supporting project direction
  12. Strong analytical and technical skills with the ability to learn new tools quickly
  13. Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  14. Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and collaborative work environments


Preferred Qualifications


  1. Salesforce certifications such as Platform Developer I/II, Application Architect, or System Architect
  2. Experience with Salesforce solutions such as Nonprofit Cloud, NPSP, Education Cloud, ascend, or Affinaquest
  3. Experience with middleware platforms such as Workato, Jitterbit, Informatica, SnapLogic, or similar
  4. Experience working with large nonprofit or higher education organizations
  5. Knowledge of data governance and compliance best practices
  6. Experience with advancement tools such as Banner, Advance, BBCRM, or similar platforms
  7. Experience working in Agile environments
  8. Experience in consulting or client-facing project delivery
  9. Understanding of release management, version control, and deployment processes
  10. Familiarity with tools such as JIRA or similar task management systems

Salary: $100,000 - $115,000 per year
