The starting salary range for this position is $74,099 - $85,214, depending on qualifications

 

Manages and implements the solicitation, booking, and promotion of event space to local, state, regional, and national market segments. Responsible for the attainment of short-term and long-term financial sales goals, sales strategies, and plans. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City.

 

This position is Essential and is required to report to duty before, during, and immediately after a civil emergency.

 

Essential Duties

  • Keeps the mission, vision and values of the City of Port St. Lucie and MidFlorida Event Center at the forefront of decision making and action; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objectives, maintaining high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations.
  • Identifies and solicits organizations within market segments which can be potential customers.
  • Manages the rebooking of current clients.
  • Meets or exceeds sales quota goals established by the department Director.
  • Prepares annual sales plan.
  • Manages and directs the work of direct reports to meet financial sales goals.
  • Manages efficient allocation of meeting/exhibit space best maximize revenue and reduce labor and turn-over expense.
  • Stimulates the constant improvement of upselling methods and productivity.
  • Administers the bookings in EMS/event booking software system.
  • Represents the department at sales trade shows.
  • Prepares and manages rental contracts, processes for signature and deposits in a timely manner.
  • Participates in the development of the overall department business plan, budget, plans, sales goals, and objectives; and recommends programs and policies to achieve those goals and objectives.
  • Conducts site tours for existing and prospective clients.
  • Manages Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for potential clients.
  • Oversees various initiatives: Familiarization (FAM) Tours, Sales Blitz’s, and Trade Shows.
  • Manages and produces sales reports.
  • Ensures all events are booked in compliance with department policies and procedures.
  • Attends and participates in workshops, seminars, meetings, and other training programs to keep abreast of current practices.
  • Assists on special projects as required by the department Director.
  • Performs related work as required by job assignment.
  • Other duties as may be assigned

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

 

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:

 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in business management, tourism, or hospitality preferred. Minimum of three years of experience in a sales or marketing management function in a public event venue or other hospitality related industry. Possession of valid Florida driver’s license and maintenance of a clean driving history required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
