GGG- Green Growth Group, a division of MariMed Inc. is seeking a Quality Assurance Assistant at our brand-new cannabis cultivation, production and processing facility in Illinois!

SUMMARY:

The Quality Assurance Assistant role encompasses comprehensive oversight of production quality, from routine inspections to ensuring adherence to consumer goods manufacturing standards. This multifaceted position involves collaboration with various stakeholders, monitoring safety performance, and reporting KPIs and customer complaints to facility leadership. The candidate will facilitate training and safety activities and execute quality audit programs. Essential skills include proficiency in quality assurance methodologies, strong analytical capabilities, effective communication, and knowledge of industry regulations. Qualifications encompass a minimum of 2 years' experience in quality and safety assurance, a relevant degree, HACCP & PCQI certification, and advanced computer skills. The role demands physical fitness and flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed, emphasizing a commitment to maintaining high standards of product integrity and safety.

Responsibilities:

Production Quality Oversight:

  • Conduct routine inspections and quality checks during the production process.
  • Ensure adherence to quality and food safety standards and specifications in consumer goods manufacturing.
  • Monitor quality and safety performance at the facility.
  • Report to facility leadership on KPIs, initiatives, issues, corrective action, and customer complaints.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of quality inspections and testing results.
  • Generate comprehensive reports on product quality, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Provide guidance and lead problem-solving involving food safety and quality issues.
  • Interpret quality and safety philosophy to key personnel in the facility, explaining potential business impacts.

Supplier Quality Assurance:

  • Evaluate and monitor the quality of incoming raw materials from suppliers.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Authority to accept/reject products, in-process components, raw materials, packaging, labels, and more based on quality and safety.

Training and Safety Leadership:

  • Support training in all work safety, food safety, and product quality-related activities.
  • Support food safety and quality audit programs (internal and external).
  • Lead the configuration, implementation, and management of Document Management Software at the facility.

Collaboration and Liaison:

  • Work closely with inventory team to review all third-party lab results to improve success rates of potency and contaminant testing for product certificate of analyses.
  • Serve as a facility liaison to regulators, consultants, and certifying organizations.

Communicate relevant information to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of MariMed integrated management systems.

Compliance Oversight:

  • Assist Cannabis Inventory Manager on facility audits and compilation and review of BioTrack/METRC and Leaflogix data related to cultivation, production, and processing operations.
  • Ensure the facility meets the company’s, industry, and regulatory standards for food safety and product integrity.
  • Oversee complaint investigations and ensure corrective actions are reported and followed up on.

Facility Standards and Maintenance:

  • Ensure the facility is up to standards for audits, pest control, working with Facility Managers on Sanitation.
  • Work closely with vendors/Supply Chain to ensure approved chemicals are in use for processes and sanitation.
  • Perform specific tasks as assigned by Quality Assurance Manager/Director.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in quality assurance methodologies, processes, and tools.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with consumer goods production and quality standards.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and generate detailed reports.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and quality compliance.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience as a quality and safety assurance technician/manager in Dietary/Natural Products, Food, or pharmaceutical industry.
  • BS or BA degree in food science, food engineering, microbiology, chemistry, or other related field.
  • HACCP & PCQI certified preferred.
  • Computer Skills: MS Office applications, GMP software.
  • Excellent oral and written skills; ability to tailor to the audience.
  • Ability to interface with multiple groups – from front-line operators to General Manager and customers.
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or ID
  • 2 years of experience in the cannabis industry; focusing specifically on inventory tracking systems
  • Must be able to successfully pass a comprehensive background check
  • Advanced skills in METRC, Leaf Logix, BioTrack, Microsoft Suite, and computer systems.
  • Ability to work on weekends, afterhours, and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and push/pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Perform physical tasks: sitting, standing, stooping, stretching, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, performing repetitive motions, and carrying boxes.
