Apex Applied Technology, Inc. (AATech) is a thriving and rapidly expanding engineering and business consulting firm located in Southern Arizona. We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified professional who is capable of independently managing community-based programs with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to take full ownership of grant-funded projects, engage with community partners, and ensure successful program execution while aligning with AATech’s mission of promoting sustainable development in underserved communities.
This position requires someone who can lead with initiative, effectively manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain strong communication with stakeholders, clients, and funding agencies.
Key Responsibilities
The selected individual will be expected to work independently and demonstrate initiative in the following areas:
- Managing the full life cycle of community-based programs—from planning and implementation to evaluation and reporting—with minimal supervision.
- Collecting and organizing program-related information and data accurately and promptly using online project management tools such as Motion.
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual program and grant reports, along with any additional documentation required by funders.
- Organizing community events, educational workshops, and managing program participants independently with little oversight.
- Leading and facilitating meetings, site visits, and workshops; preparing all necessary materials including agendas, sign-in sheets, handouts, presentations, and meeting summaries.
- Conducting feasibility studies, developing business plans, and delivering business training programs tailored to community needs.
- Establishing and maintaining a well-organized document management system for all grant and program records.
- Creating and maintaining program websites using GoDaddy's website-building tools.
- Researching funding opportunities, developing strategic grant proposals, and ensuring all application deadlines and compliance requirements are met.
- Verifying the accuracy and consistency of all submitted data and content across grant applications and reports.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Engineering, Agricultural Science/Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of program management and/or grant writing experience, preferably involving private foundations or local, state, and federal government contracts.
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations and socially disadvantaged communities. Previous involvement in fundraising and organizing community events is preferred.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including a solid grasp of grammar and AP Style writing guidelines.
- Proficiency in Windows-based software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and experience with internal grant tracking and database management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities with flexibility and professionalism.
- A self-starter with strong initiative, the ability to learn quickly, and excellent attention to detail.
- Strong time management and creative problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with foundation staff, agency representatives, volunteers, donors, and community leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Administration, Environmental Policy, Community Development).
- Experience managing complex projects involving tribal communities or rural underserved populations.
- Familiarity with programs funded by USDA, EPA, or DOE.
- Experience using cloud-based project management platforms such as Motion.
- Knowledge of federal grant compliance regulations and reporting systems.
- Bilingual proficiency, especially in Spanish or Native languages spoken in the Southwest.
- Skills in graphic design or web content management.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
