Minimum Experience/Education
Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology, Genomics, Quantitative Genetics, Bioinformatics, Plant Biology, or a related field (completed by start date).
Demonstrated experience in population genomics, GWAS, and/or QTL analysis.
Proficiency in computational/data analysis environments (R, Python, Unix/Linux, HPC systems).
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a collaborative research team.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Experience with pangenomics, structural variation, and synteny analysis.
Background in ecological genomics or plant adaptation.
Experience mentoring students.
Publication record demonstrating quantitative genomics or evolutionary analysis.
Interest in developing and leading research on new model systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Song Lab at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate with expertise in evolutionary genomics and quantitative genetics. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing research using a wild legume species as an emerging model for ecological adaptation, natural variation, and crop wild relative biology. The postdoc will lead analyses in population genomics, GWAS, QTL mapping, and comparative/pangenomics, and will have opportunities to mentor students and contribute to high-impact publications and proposal development.
Conduct evolutionary genomics analyses, including population structure, local adaptation, and genome-wide scans.
Develop and implement GWAS and QTL mapping pipelines for trait discovery.
Perform comparative genomics, pangenomics, structural variation, and synteny analysis.
Integrate genomic, phenotypic, and ecological data to identify adaptive loci.
Mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers in bioinformatics and quantitative genetics.
Prepare peer-reviewed publications, figures, and presentations.
Assist with NSF proposal development and collaborative research initiatives.
Contribute to maintaining a collaborative, productive research environment.
