GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will possess the ability to ensure the sourced-product suppliers data and specifications meets and/or exceeds our quality, durability, and performance requirements, particularly in situations where the supplier has ownership of the design of the product. The positions will be involved with sustaining activities for our Ductless products. The ideal candidate will have the ability to complete modeling and testing responsibilities as required by projects. Ideally, s/he will have familiarity with the design and development of indoor and outdoor split system products. Finally, s/he must be agile, micro and macro project manager, and influential.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will lead sustaining activities for our Ductless products.
You will have the opportunity to work on all parts of the Ductless system (condensing units, fan coils, controls, agency certification, and qualification)
You will work with the broader Carrier, overseas suppliers and domestic production partner teams in sustaining activities and compliance with North American regulatory and certification of Ductless systems and controls.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with Product Management, Technical Service, Technical Training, HVAC Replacement Components, Application Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales and Supplier Quality teams to understand, document, and execute the required market deliverables for Product Sustaining programs.
Support and resolve requirement conflicts among stakeholders and supplied product actual performance with program leads
Support the review and approval of requirements documentation versus actual product capabilities throughout the sustaining process.
Plan and execute qualification testing of sourced Ductless products.
Complete modeling and testing responsibilities as required by projects.
Collaborate with Quality/Reliability to implement key metrics into the design of the product and ensure all reliability design goals are achieved.
TYPICAL EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 5-7+ years of experience; or
Masters Degree in Engineering with 2-5 years of experience.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to work with others on design teams to understand and translate design and process engineering requirements into product line design components, subsystems, and products.
Ability to understand product/component function, reliability, and quality requirements.
In-Depth understanding of refrigeration systems, and/or electrical system requirements in order to assess internal data and supplier data.
Familiarity with the design and development and/or sustaining of indoor and outdoor Ductless or VRF systems is a plus.
An in-Depth understanding of electronic control functions in HVAC equipment is a plus.
In-Depth understanding of industry-accepted system engineering tools (DFMEA, PFMEA, Psychrometrics, Brayton cycle, etc.)
Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a globally diverse audience.
The ability to speak Japanese is a plus.
Experience with AHRI 1230 or AHRI 210/240, USE, ULE, and/or VRF certification programs is a plus.
Experience with UL 1995 and/or UL/IEC 60335-1 and UL/IEC 60335-2-40 safety standards is a plus.
Experience with hands-on psychrometric testing is a plus.
Intermediate level skills with Microsoft; Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
Self-starter with the ability to learn quickly, and work independently.
Experience working in a team environment with cross-functional support groups (Product Quality, Supplier Quality, Marketing, Manufacturing, Sourcing)
Organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities.
Microsoft Excel VBA is a plus.
