The Marketing and Communications team at ChattState is looking for a Content Coordinator who will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of various writing projects, from concept to delivery. This will include managing timelines and resources, as well as working closely with faculty, staff, and team members to ensure that the final product meets their expectations whether writing blog posts, social media posts, articles, landing page content, or other marketing and communications content. The coordinator will be responsible for developing and maintaining relations with local media to promote college projects. In addition, the coordinator will be expected to write for Search Engine Optimization (SEO), ensuring that all content is optimized to perform well in search engine results, and serve as editor of various college content.

 

This team member will manage the College News Center (news, campus updates, insights), Editorial Style Guide, and the Marketing and Communications Content Calendar.

 

Essential Functions

 

Holistic Student Support

 

Develop content that tells the story of our students as the hero in their journey at ChattState in a compelling way that brings our overall editorial strategy to life, consistent with the ChattState brand, . Editorial style guidelines, and messaging playbooks, as well as compliance with policy and regulations. This work will require collaborating with other divisions as well as students. Must be willing to chase down the story.

 

Create content around the College’s many academic and personal supports for students with an eye toward SEO. This content can live on the web, in internal and external emails, and other marketing and communications content.

 

Serve as proofreader and editor for marketing and communication materials produced by the college and maintain the college documentation for publication numbers

 

Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation

 

Apply a journalistic, storytelling style of writing to the promotion of white papers, writing of articles and blogs, and traditional copywriting for content formats such as social media posts (backup to social media coordinator), emails, ad copy, and website copy.

 

Write content for internal and external communications about professional development opportunities and successes.

 

Serve as the Slate CRM communications editor for the College.

 

Document published items in the Department SharePoint for internal reporting.

 

Generate and pitch content ideas backed by data, audience insights, and research that will differentiate the College from the competition and improve sentiment and engagement with target audiences. Collaborate with the Web Services Coordinator to compile research.

 

Collect internal and external research to craft a well-thought-out and informed story framework that is supported by credible sources and in support of our college vision, strategic themes and priorities.

 

Leverage the use of generative AI tools, like JasperAI, to enhance content creation and improve overall efficiency

 

Organizational Culture and Inclusive Practices

 

Create and maintain environments that are aligned with the College’s values.

 

Oversee the execution of writing projects, from concept to delivery, that are thoughtful and engaging: web content, ad content, email copy to targeted audiences, and publication content that represents the diversity of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests. In addition to writing and editing, this will involve conducting interviews with internal and external subject matter experts across all levels, leading those conversations with well-researched questions, and the ability to contribute to the conversation with shared experience and knowledge.

 

Collaborate with division and department stakeholders to develop and support external newsletters and other communications.

 

Collaborate with team members

 

Rely on Graphic Designer for any needed designed elements. Work with the designer on any needed copy for designed elements.

 

Rely on regular reports from the Web Services coordinator on SEO, keyword research, and most frequently visited web pages to develop content relevant to our audience and increase our reach based on the data.

 

Coordinate web content with the social media coordinator.

 

Coordinate with the team to produce ad copy for videos, radio ads, etc.

 

Collaborate with team to bring video concepts to life through storytelling and effective scriptwriting, ensuring that the final product meets the objectives of the project and resonates with the intended audience.

 

Fiscal Stewardship

 

Work within the departmental budget developed by the Marketing and Communications Director to support content-related ads or manage specific ad accounts.

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Associate degree in a related discipline
  • 2+ years serving as a writer; writing experience should demonstrate proficiency in long-form writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, OneDrive, Teams, Planner, Outlook, SharePoint)
  • Familiar with creating content that is optimized for SEO as well as conversions
  • Experience writing and editing both long- and short-form marketing content, including thought leadership content, stories around testimonials, press releases, etc.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in project management

  • Experience with PR and promoting projects or products
