Job Description:

The Systems Engineer’s role is responsible for the back-ups (data to tapes) for EI’s external clients. These rotations of tapes are to be performed on a weekly or daily cycle. Candidate must have knowledge of SANs, NAS, OSSV, Snap Mirror, migrating volumes, knowledge of LUNS, and knowledge of aggregates. Understanding hardware components, Oracle storage tek, and HP media library 8096. Understand LTO5 formats. Their role will include the verification of backups on a scheduled basis for all clients.

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 


  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts based on Enterprise Integration best practices, tools, and methodologies.
  • Comply with contracted service level agreements.
  • Perform internal system administrations.
  • Monitor and test storage performance and back up constancies across all clients.
  • Provide guidance to junior members across teams.
  • Design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems based on Enterprise Integration best practices, tools, and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architectural Team to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.
  • Integrate servers, including database, e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated software into enterprise systems.
  • Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of client computing systems.
  • Liaise with, and provide training and support to, end users and staff on computer operation and other issues.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, networked peripheral devices, and networking hardware products.
  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex PC problems for a variety of end users, and recommend and implement corrective hardware solutions, including off-site repair as needed.
  • Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding PC and/or hardware problems.
  • Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
  • Construct, install, and test customized configurations based on various platforms and operating systems.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hardware and equipment contracts and facilitate contract-based installations.
  • If necessary, liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors.
  • Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, maintain current knowledge of plan executables, and respond to crises in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

Education:

  • High School degree or equivalent required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

  • 1-3 years' IT experience
