Electric Boat is hiring IRRSP certified radiographers at the Quonset Point facility. The Radiographic Test (RT) team is growing rapidly to meet our production demands. We are looking for individuals who are motivated, demonstrate leadership, act with integrity and regard safety above all else. Performing radiography in a ship manufacturing facility requires radiation safety to be held in the highest regard for our radiographers.

 

Our radiographers are responsible to lead their crew’s operations each night with support from their supervisor. RT inspection is performed on some of the most critical components on a nuclear submarine and our radiographers play an integral role in ensuring these parts are safe. It is the job of the Quality department to make sure everything we inspect will get our sailors safely back home.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing internal inspections on pipe and structural weldments using radiographic equipment
  • Securing, monitoring and surveying work areas as radiographic testing is being conducted
  • Working in confined spaces, at heights, carrying up to fifty pounds, climbing, stooping and working in inclement weather
  • Must demonstrate competency in understanding Electric Boat standards and procedures

This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current IRRSP Certification
  • Applicant must be able to interpret shipyard procedures
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces and extreme temperature conditions as required
  • Individuals may be required to possess their own basic hand tools
  • Must be able to work all shifts
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance through the Department of Defense

Preferred:

  • 1+ year’s RT experience
  • Related commercial, Military/Navy and/or shipbuilding experience
  • Experience in quality control
  • Vocational, Technical and Community College education or Apprentice program

Skills:

  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Will be required to work in a collaborative and team environment to meet organizational goals
