The Texas General Land Office primarily serves the schoolchildren, veterans, and the environment of Texas. The agency does so by preserving our history, maximizing state revenue through innovative administration, and through the prudent stewardship of state lands and natural resources. This position is with our Office of Communications area of the agency.
Performs multimedia operation and production work involving the design, preparation, and production of multimedia content using photographic, audio, and video equipment.

Essential Job Elements:
- Captures and produces professional-quality audio and video products including broadcast PSAs, outreach features, and internal communications. Creates video projects in support of division initiatives, which includes video photography, editing, encoding, and archiving. Produces web and social media content. Provides advice to leadership, staff and general public on creative and technical issues regarding all media created by the agency.
- Edits HD and 4K video and produces motion graphics, including Chroma-key compositing, title screens, lower-third name keys and closing credits using Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop. Works with the press team to ensure text is written and edited in accordance with GLO Standards and Guidelines. Serves as production coordinator and video editor of assigned video products to include audio mastering, editing and mixing. Ensures preproduction, production and postproduction parameters, timelines and distribution goals are met. Coordinates studio setups and the transportation of equipment and staff to on-location shoots.
- Produces and edits weekly marketing content for the Veterans Land Board (VLB) and other programs as assigned. Develops, implements, and makes recommendations to leadership regarding video communication distribution strategies for targeted content and instructional videos.
- Maintains and upgrades the agency's audio and digital video and photography archives. Oversees and maintains video-production equipment and studio-control room facilities. Provides input on future video-production software and hardware purchases for the agency to ensure continued quality content. Identifies internal and external communication needs, establishes production quality standards, operating procedures, and production procedures for a multimedia audiovisual studio.
- Performs still photography, determines, and selects photographs for distribution or publication. Manages livestreaming for School Land Board (SLB) and VLB meetings.
- Serves as a multimedia producer for agency public events. Ensures high quality audio/video for every event, utilizing GLO staff and external contractors in cooperation with GLO staff and Communications Director. Operates studio equipment such as teleprompter, camera and lighting for live television appearances and podcast tapings. Manages contracts with vendors for dependable and cost-effective event audio/visual services, as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in computer graphics, communications, film, fine art, or a related field is generally preferred. Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in video and photography.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the principles of graphic design, still and video photographic techniques, and production methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite/ Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Skill in creating graphics and special effects and in editing photos, audio, and video.
- Skill in Video Editing - Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop, Audition.
- Ability to design pages, and to communicate effectively.
- Ability to serve as a lead worker providing direction to others.
Physical Requirements:
