The Director of Investment Management is responsible for client relationships as the investment team representative, providing superior investment consulting and client service. This job actively participates in portfolio management decisions (portfolio construction, asset class weights, manager selection and oversight) and leads complex investment projects that address capital markets, investment managers, portfolio exposures, and performance. As a master in investment management, this job interacts directly with clients and donors, drawing on a deep understanding of the portfolios and markets to explain the organization's strategy and performance. The Director sits on the Investment Committee.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Works directly with client staff and boards of trustees, and their donors, representing the investment function, applying in-depth knowledge of planned giving and endowment management.
- Helps market to prospective clients.
- Designs and prepares investment and planned giving-related materials (exhibits, thought leadership) and presents in client meetings, conferences, and webinars.
- Leads complex investment research projects that directly impact portfolio design and performance.
- Serves as the investment team representative on client teams, supporting planned giving and endowment relationships.
- Understands all aspects of planned gifts including trust accounting and taxes and how they interact with investment solutions.
- Leads project teams and team committees, e.g., manager review committee, tactical committee.
