Job Description:

Our UM Foundation development team works collaboratively at the intersection between donors’ philanthropic passions and the University’s greatest opportunities for growth. Members of our development team advise donors through the giving cycle – from identification to gift closure.

Today, we have an outstanding opportunity for a fundraising professional to join the team at the College of Business – the top business school in the region, grounded in the hands-on learning and success of students.

This fundraising position will support the College of Business’ mission by driving fundraising strategies, building relationships with donors, and engaging soliciting, and stewarding donors in the supportive team environments of the University of Montana Foundation and College of Business.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an effective ambassador for the College of Business and University of Montana Foundation by articulating the mission, values, and fundraising opportunities of the College of Business
  • Manage a portfolio of prospective donors, consisting of College of Business alumni and friends, with frequent travel around Montana and occasionally out-of-state
  • Identify and cultivate potential donors, develop and execute strategies for gift solicitation and stewardship
  • Work in collaboration with the College of Business dean and senior director of development, along with UM Foundation teams including Development, Prospect Research and Management, Marketing and Communications, Stewardship, and Gift and Fund Administration

Required Qualifications

The UM Foundation and College of Business seek a candidate who excels in relationship-building, possesses a high level of self-motivation, and is team-oriented.

Other requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of three years of relevant work experience, including nonprofit fundraising experience or could include sales and business development in a complex organization
  • Outstanding track record of building donor or customer relationships
  • Strong understanding of nonprofits and philanthropy
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Ability and willingness to drive and travel

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the major gift process and experience soliciting individuals for philanthropic gifts
  • Familiarity with or interest in the areas of focus within the College of Business, including accounting, business management, cybersecurity, finance, international business, management information systems, or marketing
