Job Description:

The Head of Curriculum & Education is responsible for designing, governing, and continuously improving the institute’s global curriculum for Financial Operations professionals.

This role ensures all learning content, assessments, and qualifications are academically robust, industry-relevant, and aligned with real-world practice across Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and broader Finance Operations.

The role blends finance operations experience with educational design expertise, overseeing professional qualifications, exams, assessments, and learning pathways that support career progression for finance professionals worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Strategy & Governance:

  1. Own the end-to-end curriculum strategy for Financial Operations education, from entry-level training to advanced professional certifications.
  2. Define learning pathways across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Finance Operations roles from entry to senior leadership..
  3. Ensure curriculum remains current with industry best practices, regulatory changes, and evolving finance technologies.
  4. Establish curriculum governance, review cycles, and quality standards.
  5. Make recommendations around future product development

Qualification & Program Development:

  1. Design and maintain professional qualifications and certifications for Financial Operations professionals.
  2. Define qualification structures, levels, prerequisites, and progression routes.
  3. Ensure qualifications are credible, defensible, and aligned with employer and learner expectations.
  4. Lead periodic reviews to maintain relevance and rigor.

Assessment, Exams & Weighting:

  1. Lead the design of exams, assessments, and marking schemes.
  2. Define assessment strategies, including formative and summative assessments.
  3. Set assessment weightings, pass marks, grading boundaries, and resit policies.
  4. Ensure assessments are fair, valid, reliable, and aligned to learning outcomes.
  5. Oversee exam writing, moderation, standard setting, and continuous improvement.

Content Development & Learning Design:

  1. Guide the creation of high-quality learning materials, including course content, case studies, practical exercises, and assessments.
  2. Ensure learning is practical, applied, and reflective of real finance operations environments.
  3. Balance technical knowledge with process, controls, compliance, and professional judgment.
  4. Work with subject matter experts to translate operational experience into effective learning.

Industry Alignment & Credibility:

  1. Maintain strong links with Finance Operations leaders, employers, and industry bodies.
  2. Ensure curriculum reflects real-world AP, AR, and Finance Operations challenges.
  3. Incorporate emerging trends such as automation, shared services, outsourcing, and data-driven finance.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  1. Lead and mentor curriculum designers, educators, and subject matter experts.
  2. Set clear standards for content quality, assessment design, and learner outcomes.
  3. Collaborate closely with marketing and commercial teams to support growth and adoption.

Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement:

  1. Monitor learner outcomes, assessment performance, and feedback.
  2. Use data and insight to refine curriculum, assessments, and qualifications.
  3. Ensure compliance with internal quality frameworks and any external accreditation requirements.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  1. Proven experience designing or contributing to professional education, training programs, or qualifications.
  2. Strong experience in exam writing, assessment design, marking schemes, and weighting.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of learning outcomes, assessment validity, and standard setting.
  4. Experience creating or managing professional qualifications or certifications.
  5. Ability to translate operational finance expertise into structured, high-quality learning.

Desirable

  1. Experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and/or Finance Operations roles.
  2. Experience working with awarding bodies, accreditation frameworks, or professional institutes.
  3. Background in shared services, global business services, or large-scale finance operations.
  4. Teaching, training, or instructional design experience.
  5. Relevant finance or education qualifications.
