Job Description:

Altra Federal Credit Union is seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Credit Analyst to join our Business Banking team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, risk assessment, and credit evaluation. As a Credit Analyst, you will be responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of potential borrowers, assessing financial data, and making recommendations to minimize credit risk.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting Altra’s business lenders in the analysis, origination, and monitoring of business loans, ensuring compliance with Altra’s lending policies and NCUA regulations.
  • Reviewing and analyzing financial statements.
  • Preparing loan presentations and / or credit memos with supporting narrative for approval that clearly and accurately evaluates the underlying risk of the transaction.
  • Preparing annual reviews as required by Altra Loan Policy.
  • Completing documentation reviews as part of the underwriting process to ensure loan files are properly documented and exceptions are tracked accurately.
  • Completing real estate and equipment appraisal reviews.
  • Managing the Loan Committee agenda and preparing Loan Committee approval packages.
  • Working with Altra lenders and CU Business Group to process SBA loan applications.
  • Assisting other lending areas and credit union staff in interpreting financial data.

Qualified candidates will be required to have a high school diploma, GED or HSED. A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business management or related field is required. A minimum of two (2) years of banking experience is required. A minimum one (1) year of commercial banking experience is preferred.

In addition, candidates must have a strong understanding of accounting concepts and how to apply them to the financial statement analysis. Must have the ability to read, understand, analyze, and interpret most complex documents and business loan documents. Must have reasoning ability; able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Must demonstrate ability to work effectively with others in a cooperative and collective environment. Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary. Must be able to interact with business owners/members effectively and cooperatively, and other employees within the credit union. Must have the ability to prioritize, organize time, and work independently. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access) and various lending software programs.

This position does require the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to handle stressful situations as they occur.

This position is full time, 40-hours a week, Monday through Friday. The Credit Analyst, Business Banking position will be located at the located at the La Crosse, WI and / or Onalaska Office however, work from home / remote work opportunities are available after 3-6 months of employment once successfully completing all position-specific training, demonstrating consistent and satisfactory work performance, and having an approved workspace with high-speed internet access.
