American Management Association ("AMA") is looking for a Conference Center Manager, who will manage AMA's new satellite center located in the Dallas Arts District.
Responsibilities
- Manage the fulfillment and flawless execution of all AMA “In-person” public seminars, as well as additional AMA professional learning events.
- Provide and coordinate all support services to all AMA faculty facilitating AMA public seminars.
- Encourage, through personal example, the image and professional integrity expected of all employees in contact with AMA customers, faculty, clients, vendors, and guests.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the AMA facility to ensure the seminar environment meets with AMA standards and image.
- Liaison with building property management and vendors regarding all building and office services such as HVAC, Maintenance, Life Safety, Security, and Janitorial services.
- Manage relationship with local hotel operator regarding negotiations for sleeping rooms, food functions, and vendor/suppliers.
- Screen, select, train and schedule temporary staff when needed.
- Establish/maintain an effective and efficient working relationship with AMA headquarters.
- The role will also include the oversight and event planning for additional AMA seminars scheduled throughout the southwestern region of the US.
- Other related duties include:
- Physically arrange furniture and test audiovisual equipment in advance of AMA classes.
- Receive, check, and distribute learning materials in advance of AMA classes.
- Clean, maintain, and manage inventory for customer pantry/break room.
- Greet and receive all AMA guests and faculty.
- Complete guest-room reservations for AMA faculty and manage AMA’s direct billing account with local hotel operators.
- Troubleshoot and resolve audiovisual and/or facility issues.
- Responsible for opening and closing the AMA office in accordance with set procedures.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree - hospitality management, office services, facility management or similar background preferred.
- 5+ years managerial experience required.
- Exceptional customer service skills required.
- Strong verbal and writing skills required.
- Strong interpersonal skills required.
- Must be able to multi-task in a customer-facing and operational environment.
- Must be proficient in MS office suite (Power Point) and must possess general working knowledge for common audiovisual presentation equipment.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet ever-changing deadlines is a must.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work early morning, late evening, and occasional weekends as needed.
- Ability to set up training rooms, i.e. tables/desks, chairs, etc. (furniture has wheels).
- Ability to travel occasionally.
