This part-time position manages, plans, and analyzes the financial operations of the Church. Tasks include general accounting, budget, payroll, accounts payable, offerings and fixed assets to ensure the financial data is maintained and reported in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Federal and State guidelines.
Responsibilities
Manage general accounting functions
Prepare, reconciliation, analysis & reporting of all church financials
Payroll and tax reporting
Assist with accounts payable, fixed assets, budgeting, all offerings and giving record keeping
Periodically renew/review tax-exempt documentation, insurance requirements, other business-related functions
Create and update policies and procedures as needed
May be required to perform other duties as needed
Knowledge and Skills
Two to three years previous work experience with knowledge of GAAP, including accounting, auditing, budgeting, payroll, accounts payable, and fixed assets. Ability to adapt and apply established accounting methods to a variety of transactions and reports.
Ability to identify problems areas and analyze statistical data. Ability to be expedient and accurate in performing detailed work with numerical data.
Microsoft Office desired, especially working with Excel spreadsheets.
Knowledge of automated accounting systems.
Ability to analyze methods and systems to develop procedures to improve efficiency.
Good communication skills, self-motivated and ability to work independently.
