Position Overview:

The WiscNet Board of Directors seeks a visionary and passionate Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our organization into a new era of transformative change. As the CEO of WiscNet, you will have the unique opportunity to significantly impact the Research and Education (R&E) community, leading the organization to build the first ever secure platform. This is an exceptional chance to lead a high-performing organization that does not require a turnaround, but rather a leader who can channel their skills into fostering growth and innovation within an agile institution.

Key Responsibilities for the CEO Position:

● Provide Visionary Leadership and Strategy:

  • Lead a team that drives change and pioneers groundbreaking initiatives while maintaining a visible presence statewide and nationally.

● Be a WiscNet Evangelist:

  • Utilize strong communication skills to engage and connect with the diverse community of members and stakeholders.

● Provide People-Centric Leadership:

  • Employ a leadership approach that prioritizes the needs and aspirations of members, coworkers, and partners.

● WiscNet Board Collaboration:

  • Build a robust and collaborative relationship with the board, recognizing its critical role in the organization's success, utilizing its guidance for challenging decisions, and harnessing its influential advocacy for the community and broad membership representation.

● Strategic Planning:

  • Develop a 5-year strategic plan, ensuring alignment and feasibility, and oversee its execution with adaptability in the face of rapid change.
  • Enact the community's vision for a secure platform to meet the needs of members' constituents and the community's diverse audiences.

● Fiscal Oversight:

  • Oversee fiscal health and sustainability, including revenue generation, budget management, strategic financial policies, and staff financial well-being, while recognizing the importance of responsible fiscal practices and their impact on staff's financial well-being.

● Staffing Management:

  • Strategically manage staffing levels, balancing resource allocation for member benefits and cost-effectiveness and optimizing staff salaries across the organization for competitiveness and efficiency.

● Leadership of the Members:

  • Lead a diverse institutional membership, adapt to evolving community bonds, connect effectively with individuals within the institutions, and unify the organization's identity and message for a shared purpose.

● Relationship Building:

  • Recognize and nurture critical local and national relationships, understanding their value in sustaining the organization, as these relationships are integral to the financial sustainability and existence of WiscNet.

● Services Management:

  • Manage the ongoing service lifecycle, fostering innovation, ensuring services align with the mission of advancing technology for members and exploring opportunities to extend select services to non-traditional partners, benefiting the membership.

● Political Acumen:

  • Demonstrate astute political acumen in managing a complex environment, understanding the multi-layered nature of politics, and making prudent decisions while addressing external factors that may impact the organization

Required Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you need to possess:

● Proven Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of driving growth and innovation.

● Experience in leading and managing cross-functional teams effectively, including the ability to acknowledge failures and find solutions.

● Financial Acumen: The skill to generate revenue and maintain a balanced budget.

● An understanding of the complex technical capabilities of WiscNet.

● A commitment to work full-time onsite at WiscNet World Headquarters and reside in

Wisconsin.

Compensation:

Generous Benefit package including Health Insurance Plan, Paid Life-Insurance, Paid Long-Term Disability, 401 K options, 10 paid holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday, bereavement leave, Paid Time Off, and other benefits. Salary Range 150K-300K based on experience.
