Job Description:

This position is seeking candidates immediately to start and work through the summer season.

Position Title: Bicycle Repair Technician

Reports to: Repair Supervisor

Department: Hoback Repair

Classification: Seasonal Full Time

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

 


GENERAL PURPOSE:

To perform professional level bicycle technical services as well as manage effective communication with customers about service requests. Also supports the rental and retail departments with necessary service needs to ensure quality customer experiences at Hoback Sports.

 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Significant bicycle technical service ability and general bicycle industry knowledge (Required for Year Round Employment consideration)
  • Bicycle Industry recognized professional/technical certifications a plus. i.e. – hydraulic brake bleeds, suspension overhauls, Ebike motor and electronics, etc.
  • Provide excellent customer repair and tune services.
  • Knowledge of Ski/Snowboard repair work a plus.
  • Complete service work on skis/boards/bicycles with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Check in/Check out customer repair/service work.
  • Effectively communicate service recommendations to customers.
  • Research and work with management to order necessary repair parts through a variety of distributors.
  • Support Rental Department in servicing/upkeep of winter/summer rental fleets.
  • Support Retail Department with bike builds and repairs as needed.
  • Ensure that every guest has a quality experience at Hoback Sports.


OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Clean shop, take trash out, general housekeeping of work environment
  • Consistently have up to date and extensive knowledge of service procedures, information and industry trends in both the snow sports and bicycle industries
  • Assist with physical inventories
  • Assist with events

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Working knowledge and skillset of bicycle/ski/snowboard tuning and repair practices
  • Strong customer service ability
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and via email
  • Basic knowledge of retail operation environment
  • Outgoing personality

 


WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Includes work with machinery, noise volume requiring ear protection at times, chemical usage and ski and bike tool use.
  • Working environment is generally indoors though may require offsite work for events, promotions, etc.

 


PHYSICAL ABILITY:

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
  • Climbing, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Reaching, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Grasping, Fingering, Talking, Hearing, Repetitive Motions.

 


PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 Years Previous Experience in Bicycle/Ski/Snowboard technical service
  • Previous Retail Experience
  • Previous experience in bicycle industry technical service
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
