Business Unit Description

The Energy, Infrastructure, & Transition (“EIT”) practice provides investment banking services to targeted clients in the infrastructure, renewable and thermal power, utility, midstream, and upstream energy clients headquartered throughout North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Australia. Our client-centric strategy leads with financial advisory and extends to the provision of financing (bond, institutional, and bank) and hedging products with our business partners throughout CIBC World Markets. EIT manages a market leading platform from our offices in New York, Houston, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and London.
We primarily support our clients through a variety of transactions including M&A (buy-side and sell-side), construction and term financings, refinancings, strategic advisory / alternatives mandates, capital structure advisory, and public-private partnerships. The team’s coverage mandate includes the following sectors, among others: airports, seaports, roads and bridges, light and heavy rail, educational facilities, hospitals, midstream energy, renewables (including solar, onshore wind, and offshore wind), battery storage, thermal power generation, regulated utilities, district energy, and water treatment assets. EIT is committed to supporting CIBC’s clients as they navigate the energy transition from carbon-intensive fuels to sustainable solutions, and impacts this transition will have on connected industries.

What You’ll Be Doing
The EIT Analyst will work with Managing Directors, Executive Directors, Directors, and Associates to continue to expand the presence of CIBC World Markets in the project finance, infrastructure and power markets. The Analyst will provide financial modeling, analytical, structuring, research and transaction support and will assist with the execution of transactions and advisory projects such as; mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, equity and debt financings, strategic advisory/alternatives projects and full capital structure solution projects. The Analyst will be expected to maintain an awareness of our clients, industry, regulatory issues and relevant economic/political trends. A team approach to executing coverage and financing assignments is designed to provide progressive on the job training.
How You’ll Succeed

Research and analyze information and draft infrastructure and power proposals in conjunction with Directors, Executive Directors and/or Managing Directors

Conduct financial analysis, both for existing clients and on new mandates/opportunities
-
Develop financial models, determining the assumptions and methodology
-
Liaise with other units of CIBC in preparing infrastructure, utility and renewable power reviews and proposals for clients’ financing needs
-
Prepare industry and financial analysis to determine the feasibility of potential financing and M&A transactions
-
Organize presentations to potential clients, assisting in the development of presentation information
-
Perform industry comparative analysis

Conduct industry research to help the group better understand developments in the infrastructure and power space

Relevant undergraduate degree (Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related discipline) preferred

1-2 years of relevant experience in a banking, investment management or equivalent institution is highly advantageous

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of USD$115,000-135,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component. CIBC offers a full range of benefits and programs to meet our employee’s needs; including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability, and Other Insurance Plans, Paid Time Off (including Sick Leave, Parental Leave, and Vacation), Holidays, and 401(k), in addition to other special perks reserved for our team members.
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. Additional total compensation and benefits details will be provided during the hiring process.
