Management/Supervisory Scope: The Director, Multimedia Communications is responsible for the cohesive development of strategic marketing plans for the promotion and marketing of Trinity United Church of Christ (TUCC) and its related entities as well as oversight of Media Services, including Traditional and Digital Media. The Director, Multimedia Communications is responsible for the direct supervision of all team leaders/managers, indirect supervision of all supervisors, and staff of Digital Media, Traditional Media and associated Production, Publications, Media Sales, Media Sales Office, AKIBA Sales, and Reprographics areas. Additionally, the Director, Multimedia Communications is responsible for working directly and/or indirectly with various Ministry Partners, Chairpersons and Subcommittee and other Trinity Team members and stake holders as necessary. Furthermore, working under the direction of the Senior Pastor the Director, Multimedia Communications is charged with implementing the second leg of the Pastoral Vision “A Liberation Church,” through the strategic planning, coaching and development of TUCC’s justice focused ministries.
Basic Function: The Director, Multimedia Communications assumes management and budgetary responsibility of the Marketing, Production, Publications, Media Sales Departments, and Reprographics including the management of the various Ministry Partners to ensure the successful execution of all duties and activities performed related to areas of media and communications as described herein. The Director, Multimedia Communications serves as the primary liaison for Social Justice Ministries (Church in Society, Prison, Immabasi, Career Development, Green Committee, and Domestic Violence Ministries, as well as the Justice Watch Team) and is charged with developing new and/or revitalizing programs targeting Violence Prevention, Education Reform, Sex Trafficking and Economic Justice. Finally, the Director, Multimedia Communications is responsible for congregation and community education on these issues utilizing all available Trinity platforms.
Duties and Responsibilities
Multimedia
Directs the staff of the Multimedia Department
Development of integrated marketing plans for the church & related entities.
Coordinate the development of and implementation of the social media strategy and mobile app. A key component of this are the social media engagement strategy, processes and policies, including blogging policy, formal blogger relations programs and social media monitoring programs for TUCC’s Website(s).
Maintain awareness of TUCC’s activities in social media and contacts for the various activities.
Be an advocate for the understanding of digital media and how they affect TUCC’s marketing and communications activities.
Engage TUCC’s IT organization to coordinate IT resources and policies with social media strategy.
Train functional groups (such as Media, Akiba and CFBS) and affiliate corporations on the technology and culture of digital media as it relates to their roles.
.Video and Audio Production
Directs and manages the AV Staff.
Ensures the Production staff receives proper training and/or develops the skills needed to effectively operate Trinity United Church of Christ (TUCC’s) audio/visual technology for worship services, special services, and/or television broadcasts, and ensures staff avail themselves of the training offered by external professional institutions. Meets weekly (and as necessary) with the Video and Audio Teams to establish priorities and ensures goals and objectives are consistently being met.
Manages the develop and execution of audio and video projects to support the Pastor’s vision, and Trinity UCC’s ministries and pastoral teams
Evaluates the technical skill levels, mandates appropriate training programs, and creates standards of excellence for ministry partnerships.
Directs sermonic films, documentaries, and podcasts.
Publications and Reprographics
Directs the management staff of the Reprographics Department MultiMedia creative team.
Ensures Reprographic staff receives proper training and/or develops the skills needed to effectively operate Trinity United Church of Christ (TUCC) reprographic equipment and ensures staff avail themselves of the training offered by external professional institutions.
Directs the production of all printed materials.
Implements and manages procedures for creating and maintaining deadlines for the completion of all publication projects.
Develops systems for cataloging photography. Create, develop and implement a working schedule for Media Ministry Partners to work with TUCC Media Staff designates to archive still photos and ensure a well-stocked and user friendly still photography archival system.
Works with MMC staff to develop and maintain a distinct, professional, singular image, for all Trinity Publications, media, television broadcasts, etc., and encourages relationships of publications ministry partners with staff, along with business development initiatives to increase revenue potential. Encourages the continuation of ongoing training as provided by professionals in the publications arena.
Monitors the design and updates, maintains a professional, informative, interactive and impressive website.
Schedules regular meetings with publications staff.
Unashamed Media Group (UMG)
Learn and come to understand UMG’s music creation, PSAs (Faith-In-Place), and/or a variety of UMGs production efforts (Otis’ Dream, etc.). May review new or existing contracts for video production projects and/or review series of studio productions for ZingHealth (Medicare related talk shows). Become familiar with tasks produced by media distribution partners, i.e., ROHO, engaged to monetize Trinity UCC content, create ideas, and develop UMG’s website and records in Trinity’s ConstantContact database to enhance Trinity’s marketing efforts.
Akiba/Media Sales
Directs all staff of the Media Sales, which includes Media Sales, Media Sales Office, and the AKIBA.
Manages partnership(s) for the bookstore, including events, book signings, children’s book readings, etc.
Ensures Trinity United Church of Christ (TUCC) produces, reproduces, markets, and sells the best audio/visual, digital products and the best Christian educational books/products possible.
Interacts with Akiba Ministry Partners, when appropriate, to ensure support for/to the Media Services Department in order to develop a productive, rich, flourishing, Christian relationship with these partners/members of our Church body.
Directs and empowers the Akiba Sales Team Leader to produce a high-quality product that exemplifies the Trinity image and standards, trains personnel in proper interpersonal and interpersonal relations, and schedules regular meetings with staff, as appropriate.
