The Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network (GMHCN), a recovery-oriented mental health peer support, advocacy, and education organization, is seeking a Training Coordinator to work with the Forensic Peer Mentoring Program.
The Forensic Peer Mentor Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of training programs for forensic peer mentors. This role requires a dynamic individual with lived experience in forensic mental health, peer support, and educational program development. The coordinator will oversee the recruitment, training, and ongoing development of peer mentors who work with individuals involved in the criminal justice system, ensuring the highest standards of practice and ethical conduct.
This is a full-time position with a negotiable salary dependent upon applicant’s skills, talents, and experience. This position is currently a hybrid (remote and in-person) position requiring regular travel across the state.
Responsibilities
· Assists in the design and implementation of an updated comprehensive training programs for forensic peer mentors.
· Assists in developing new curricula, training materials, and evaluation tools.
· Ensures training programs align with industry standards and best practices.
· Recruits and select qualified candidates for the forensic peer mentor training program.
· Conducts interviews and assessments to determine suitability of candidates.
· Facilitates and conducts training sessions, workshops, and seminars.
· Utilizes various teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
· Provides ongoing supervision and support to trained forensic peer mentors.
· Offers guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
· Builds and maintain relationships with criminal justice agencies, mental health organizations, and community partners.
· Collaborates with stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness and outreach.
· Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of training programs.
· Implements improvements based on feedback and assessment results.
· Maintains accurate records of training activities, participant progress, and program outcomes.
· Prepares and submits monthly reports to senior management and funding bodies as required.
Required Qualifications:
· Active Certified Peer Specialist—Mental Health and added Forensic Peer Mentor title
· Must be a person who has had direct lived experience with the criminal justice system.
· Experience facilitating small (3-5 people) to large meetings (40+ people).
· Demonstrated presentation development and instructional skills
· Clear understanding of the criminal justice system and how to navigate it
· Exceptional computer skills included Excel and Word
· Strong organization, communication & interpersonal skills.
· Ability to meet deadlines and be detail oriented.
· Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree
· Active Certified Peer Specialist- AD certification in addition to the CPS-MH credential

Funding Statement
This position is dependent on annual contract funding, and continued employment is contingent on the contract(s).
