2. About the Opportunity:

The Staff Technologist is responsible for owning the end-to-end delivery of a key strategic initiative. This individual contributor role spans product and engineering, requiring the incumbent to shape product direction, design systems, build software, and ensure outcomes. The position demands a high degree of autonomy and close collaboration with executive leadership, with a focus on shipping incremental progress rapidly. The role operates in a complex, data-rich, regulated environment where AI technologies are transforming workflows and decision-making processes. Success in this position means driving measurable business value while raising standards for outcome-driven technology leadership.

3. Responsibilities:

• Own initiative outcomes by defining product and technical strategies based on leadership direction

• Translate goals into clear workstreams with milestones and business impact metrics

• Lead system design, technology choice, and architecture decisions, including AI-focused solutions

• Personally deliver systems by building and integrating engineers, data analysts, and specialists as needed

• Develop deep expertise in the business domain, user needs, workflows, and data environment

• Design experiments, set success criteria, and use data to guide product and technical decisions

• Regularly communicate progress in a manner understandable to leadership

4. Requirements:

• Proven engineering expertise combined with strong product instincts, demonstrated as a tech lead, staff engineer, engineering manager, or technical cofounder

• Experience shipping products or programs end-to-end with ownership of outcomes

• Recent hands-on experience with AI/LLM systems, including building, shipping, or operating AI-based features or workflows

• Strong technical skills in system design, distributed systems, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure

• Proficiency in using data and experimentation to inform product and engineering decisions

• Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations by creating processes, prioritizing effectively, and resolving coordination issues
