Position Overview:

Greater Good Charities seeks an experienced Senior Copywriter responsible for development and consistent execution of a clear, compelling brand story throughout fundraising campaigns, editorial content across digital marketing platforms, and brand messaging support for various development and programming teams. This position requires a collaborative, strategic thinker with strong creative vision, editorial skills, and customer-focus to elevate the organization’s mission and increase its reach and donor engagement. The ideal candidate will combine creative storytelling abilities with strategic thinking and a data-driven approach to content management. They should be passionate about our cause and able to inspire action through compelling narratives across various digital platforms. 

The Senior Copywriter will collaborate closely within the creative team as well as the digital marketing team to execute the brand story consistently, compellingly, and strategically across marketing channels and through the donor journey.  

 

Duties/Responsibilities: (but not limited to) 

  1. Create intelligent, compelling copy that aligns with brand and/or campaign style guidelines and meets or exceeds expected standards 
  2. Collaborate with designers and other team members (both in-house and external) to deliver a clear brand story that aligns organizational mission and goals with donor insights 
  3. Create engaging, mission-driven content for various channels including website, social media, email campaigns, and integrated digital advertising campaigns 
  4. Deliver content requirements for editorial content calendars, digital media campaigns, CRM, and fundraising advancement communications 
  5. Collaborate with programming teams to translate complex and sensitive information and experiences into accessible, impactful narratives 
  6. Optimize content for SEO and implement best practices for digital engagement 
  7. Analyze content performance in collaboration with digital team channel data to refine strategies 
  8. Understand and own the data, impact, and stories for communication 
  9. Manage and ensure brand consistency with messaging frameworks, standard guidelines, and hierarchy across all written communications 
  10. Edit and quality-check content provided from the field and program teams and ensure copy meets all legal, sensitivity, and brand style requirements 

 

Required Skills: 

  1. Strong editorial skills with experience in developing and maintaining brand voice and style guides 
  2. Proficiency in content management systems (CMS) and social media management tools 
  3. Growth mindset demonstrating openness to seek and receive feedback, with a commitment to excellence 
  4. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills 
  5. Dedication to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative work environment 
  6. Excellent project management and organizational skills to manage complex projects, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced setting 
  7. This position is fully remote. The employee is expected to work 40 hours per week from 9 am –5 pm in their time zone from Monday – Friday 


Education and Experience: 

  1. Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field 
  2. 5+ years of copywriting experience, with at least 3 years in content management for digital platforms 
  3. Strong portfolio demonstrating versatile writing skills with proven track record of creating and managing content across owned, earned, and paid media channels 
  4. Experience with SEO optimization and digital marketing analytics 
  5. Knowledge of current trends in digital storytelling and content marketing 
  6. Journalism preferred  
  7. Familiarity with non-profit sector communications and fundraising best practices preferred 
  8. Experience writing for cause-driven organizations or advocacy campaigns preferred
